OK I need to throw in my 2 cents. I have the bbaby of BXs (1500). I am continually amazed at what this machine will do. I was using my box blade this past weekend and with a little manipulation, popped out a 4" root, 6 ft long out of clay soil. Also, I wish people would not say the standard implements don't work on BXs because it is simply not true. The geometry on the older machines was lower, however you are looking at the new 23. This will handle standrad size implements with NO PROBLEM. I think given your needs and money, this would be a great choice for you. Estate tractor my a**. *Those little things have guts.
*More grunt for their size.
I could use another tractor&would love to have a bx1500.

I don't have to do any configuring. I leave the FEL Mower and BH 0n it all of the time.

Whats the matter, don't know how to take 'em off? :D

You see, I don't need another machine to finish mow my property. In 10 minutes or less I can lighten my BX23 by 1000lbs which is easier on the turf and fit in places where theres no way it could w/the FEL and BH mounted....
Simple economics, I can finish mow w/one machine and you appearantly can't, hense you have to have a riding mower to finish the job.... :D

Thats EXACTLY what I did. I didnt bother to have him drag a BX to my house...but he did stop here and looked over the "chores" I had in mine..and told me he'd sell me anything I wanted to buy...but recommended a tractor larger than the BX. Of course I had to give up the BH idea because of $$$...but Ive learned to live without it for this past year. Any "trenching" I need done...for now..I just hire it done ( lots cheaper than the COST of a BH!!) but will get one one of these days...if nothing more than just for the H*** of it...:)

What I cant outright shove over..I root out with the FEL ( and I dont even have teeth on the bucket) The lack of gross weight with a BX is one of their problems...you lose traction...just as with a B series if your doing REALLY serious work with...thats why I would never recommend a B series if I though someone REALLY needed a L series with more HP and greater weight.
I was sure Id never need my tractor as a "grass cutter" so the MMM wasnt even considered..( I have a perfctly fine "grass cutter" sitting in my garage)
>>> >>>>
1*No way was I gonna give up a BH.
2*Not nearly as nice and certainly not as convent as having yer own.
3* I've never had that problem
4* traction is great with mine.

Thats my point, I don't NEED another grass cutter.
The BX23 is an outstanding grass cutter when it is LIGHTENED of the unnecessary weight of the FEL & BH. Thats why you TAKE IT OFF! It is alot cheaper to TAKE WEIGHT OFF than to have to buy and maintain ANOTHER GRASS CUTTER.
If I need the weight or if I need to work the w/the FEL or BH or both I JUST PUT THEM ON.
As for the light weight of the BX being a problem, it sure isn't when FINISH MOWING, thats why every riding lawn mower made weighs LESS THAN THE BX23, (yes that includes your grass cutter too), even when the FEL & BH is dismounted.....
Simple economics and outstanding versatility, if you know how to use it :D

LOL ... I went right by the BX, ... plus BH is not frame mounted.

LOL, a real sign of maturity is knowing what you're talking about, LOL.
The BX22,23,24's are all [sub]frame mounted BH's, LOL. Most, if not all, after market BH's for the BX's are [sub]frame mounted ... there may be a scab 3PH mount BH out there, but nobody here is talking about them, LOL!
Just phunnin' wit ya :D
Cheers!

Singlecoil, what you've done there is pretty impressive!!!!

That's my whole point, I don't need a 60 gallon 7 horse compressor in my garage, or 3hp cabinet saw but I got them :D. I am sure that I will not have 6000$ worth of backhoe work on my property if I decided to hire someone to do it, but where's the fun in that? I'm sure with it, I will be doing a lot more than I would if I decided to hire it out, and probably have a hoot doing it. The fact that one day I might have to do something with it and instead of calling a machine in and waiting for it to show up can be a pain. I hate waiting for anything. With this, jump on start it up and go to work. Do I really need it? Not really, but it's nicer to have than not :D. A 2350 is basically the same machine but without the BH. The frame, from what I hear, on the BX24 is re-inforced to support the BH, another plus in my book. It's nice to know that one day if I have to replace my septic field, I can do it myself with this, even if it takes 2 or 3x the amount of time. Last time I had a ditch dug for my sump pump outlet, it cost me 70$ an hour to do, another simple job I could do myself with this setup.

I can easily swing for the BX with backhoe, or a B series without. What I'm worried about was it's capabilities. I'm not too concerned if a job will take X amount of hours and of course it will go faster with a bigger machine (what doesn't?) but you can argue that all night.

I'm just worried that the "cute" tractor will fall apart running steady landscaping for a year or two. Seems like everyone here agrees that although small these things are pretty tough.

Another reason I like it is the large amount of attachments available. I'm planning a roughly 1/2 acre garden and this thing has numerous tillers for example available for it...and they are cheaper than the ones offered for my Cub Cadet garden tractor!!! Again there is a lot to factor in here.
What model do you have?
I just bought a new CC GT 2554 last month with a tiller front blade and 54'' mower last month .

The reason people think the BX24 is not capable is because its so cute. Its the best worksaver anyone with a few acres could own. There is really not alot it won't do. If you find its too small for a job then the next size up tractor will be too small as well. I've owned several size tractors and find its better to have a BX23 for all the little jobs and a much heavier like 5000lb. 50 horse tractor for the big jobs. Anything lighter just won't gitrdone.

OK .... LB... you have me stumped on this one. What's a "tiller front blade"?? I have never heard of such a thing, but I guess that you must have researched this fully before purchasing it. Can you post a picture of it? Do they make them to fit the BX?

2*nothing I can't weld a cage of some kind under I'm sure.
3*I doubt I'll get rid of my Cub anyways, it does a superb job mowing !
