For $15 time will tell how durable it will be.

A few years ago we were out doing a property line... ironically on the same tract as where I found my Leatherman. My coworker was brushing and spotting with a saw, I was flagging ahead of him and painting. We got to the corner and I had nothing to do for a few minutes until he finished up... so I opened the saw blade on the Leatherman and started brushing the line. In the overall scheme of things it contributed nothing; but at least I wasn't standing there doing nothing.

I used to. They are nice, but the steel is not as high quality as some others. They do hold an edge - just not as long and as sharp as some.

They used to offer many more choices/models of knives. Weren’t a big seller for them so they cut back.

I know nothing, but they look to be solid.
Out of my budget, but probably worth every dollar. I think I'd be afraid to use it. Collection purpose only, IF I ever acquired one
I just did a little Google history "research" - fascinating

They're made of steel harvested from the German battleship KMS Tirpitz, the armor if I remember right; the crest is the ship's crest.

Used primarily as a fleet in being, she seldom took to sea after the loss of her sister KMS Bismarck. The British understandably made her a constant target of the Royal Air Force, but the narrow bodies of water around Norway (iirc) actually made it quite hard to get to her. Eventually, again if I remember correctly, they used a dam busting bomb to sink her. I could literally open the link I'm posting and check, but the wife wants to go to bed.

[EDIT]: Just realized I posted a photo of Scharnhorst, so here is a photo of Tirpitz; they're not comparable. 😂

So, in looking sll over town ... the selection for multi-tools, let alone Leathermans is very limited. Granted, this is a pretty small town. Walmart had 1, Canadian Tire had 2, the local outdoors store had about 6, including the ones that I'm considering (overpriced by about $30)... but with the price of gas, I will probably buy it there. I like to buy local most of the time.

I am going into the big cities an hour away, in the next week or two so I'll have another look, before a purchase. Both cities have a House Of Knives etc. so that should be helpful.

In the meantime, I may test out the multi-tools (how often will I use it etc?) by getting a cheaper back-up one first for under $50. My wife will probably steal that one anyway :) .

SWMBO has a Spear & Jackson gardeners multitool, secateurs, pruning knife, couple of strange blades that she knows what they are for and most importantly a corkscrew and bottle opener.
What I dislike most with any knife or tool is the fabric sheath, never last and I get a leather one made.
