That is funny, my wife likes the 790 better because she was raised on a big farm and thinks anything smaller than the 790 is a toy (I know better). I sure would love to have each for a weekend to play. I am sure there are chores each does better. I guess I have to decide what I will spend most my time doing. I also may buy more property in the near future and have to consider this too. I am leaning towards the 2520 for its ease of use and listening to Chris2520 he is the machines best salesperson.

I had a 4100 gear model that I loved and hated at the same time. I like the absolute speed of selecting the gear but for loader work it did the job, but it was annoying to me to slip the clutch or go through the process if selecting direction and changing gears dpending on how fast i want to go. made it a much longer process to complete something. The other thing is the live PTO (not sure if 790 is or not) which basically if you depress the clutch, your PTO is disconnected. Stinks for mowing, and tilling. I traded it in for a 2520 hydro (they only come this way) - WOW! the speed of the hydro, just jump on the pedal and your off. Keep you attachments running regardless of what direction you want to go....plus you are always under control with a hydro, compared to a gear - you are free wheeling until you select you gear between shifts. Its real difficult to push in a clutch, hang on the brake, select the direction, and then speed gear and fan the clutch when you are on a incline. Screw up and you just lost your postion and rolled a few feet where you didnt want to be. I hated that part -hydro eliminates that competely

The MFWD 790's have a dual stage clutch, so the PTO isn't disconnected when shifting gears.
Even the non-live clutches don't lose enough RPM at the PTO to amount to a hill of beans. It's just a matter of technique...same thing applies to shifting gears...with two caveats: shifting on a slope and if you operating a tiller (you'd want to lift it out ouf the ground when clutching if the clutch isn't duual stage).
I'm reasonably quick with loader work, but I don't do enough of it where I'd want to do for a living.

I don't see what the difficulty is for a person of average motor skills and coordination (and my entire right side is impaired from a stroke).

But, to each his own, I suppose...
