That's pretty funny! I'd like to see a BX do THAT!!
Never mind moving a few logs at a time. Just pick up the whole wood shed.

Keep it up m7040. If you've got any more m7040 feats please share.

I'm counting the hours until I can call my dealer and ask him if he has picked up the tractor yet. Of course, it'll probably be a few days before it's ready. Gotta change loaders (need self-leveling valve), add 3rd function FEL remote, add canopy and canopy work lights. And I guess now add 3rd rear remote valve thanks to MtnViewRanch's advice. I'll have to make sure I tell my dealer about that little add-on tomorrow. I KNOW he thinks I'm being extravagant. He has previously tried to talk me out of 3 rear valves. He told me there's not a huge demand anymore. Even with a batwing you really only NEED two (one for the deck lift and one for BOTH wings). But he'll do it if I ask him to, especially since I'm paying for it. Of course he'll have to order the parts which hopefully won't take too long.

I've still got to decide if I want to go ahead and get the mower or not. I can add a Rhino Turbo 120 mower to the package. I went to the New Holland dealer today who is also a Bush Hog dealer. He had a Bush Hog 2010 sitting on the lot. (Note: To find website click multi-spindle rotary cutters and scroll down to 117-141" series 2000). Now that's not quite as heavy-duty a rotary cutter as the Rhino Turbo 120. It has a 1" cutting capacity and 120 hp center gearbox. The Rhino has a 3" cutting capacity and a 210 hp center gearbox. The Rhino has chain guards and the Bush Hog has deflectors. So obviously the Rhino is a better mower. But I'm going to check the price of the Bush Hog tomorrow. If it's significantly cheaper (like a couple thousand) I may consider it as a separate purchase.

I'll tell you what. On that New Holland lot they had some nice looking Rhino and Bush Hog batwings though.:D They also had 20' models in each brand. Now we're talking!!

the shed is 6 ft by 3 ft wide and 6 ft high filled with solid oak firewood. Had to rev the engine to lift it but it worked ok

Last year I tore down a rotting pig shed. I left the floor intact but free of the foundation and piled the walls and ceiling on it. I was able to lift the whole thing with the forks and move it to the burn pile in one trip. And that was with a lowly 3130! Gotta love these machines.

Chuck, this is what a large tractor can do for you when you feel like doing it. If you have a small tractor you can only wish

I'm a hearin' ya and I'm a believin' ya. It doesn't take any convincing for me.

Here's a quote by KEG from the GRAPPLE /LOGGING thread in the attachment forum:

As you wil find most others suggesting - buy the highest HP you can justify. You never regret having more power.

I DO think I'm a closet hp junkie. I'll have to add that to my profile.

Oh, you're just being mean! The 853 loader is pretty darn strong and I haven't figured out how to keep the rears on the ground if I grab a heaping pallet of sod. I don't have more weight to put on the back. If I have it all the way against my backstop of the forks I can carry most every pallet of sod, but if I'm not against it hard, I do a nose dive. If I didn't have 4X4, I'd need someone else to drag me around. Still, I'm pretty impressed to be able to carry around 2600 to 2800 pound pallets of sod.

As impressive the 853 loader is on the well respected L5030, the M class is just, well, just in a different class.

Well said. That's why they make different classes. My favorite tractors are the BX24, B2630, L5030, and M7040. I like and respect them all.

Does anyone have any thoughts/advice on the two mowers I am considering? I am, of course, leaning toward the Rhino Turbo 120 but if the price is right the Bush Hog may be a contender. By the way, the Rhino price is $6900. It is truly a massive mowing machine. Quite impressive, even sitting beside a batwing on the lot.

Chuck, you need to think about what the surface contours are like because a batwing will follow the slopes even when a ditch slope comes up where you can follow the slope or raise one section a little to clear obstacles. Also think about scalping with a wider mower than 6 ft you may have to invest in a lawn mower blade sharpening business

Well that certainly explains why that poor M8540 is sitting all by itself crying in the corner. He seems to have thought he was your best friend. :p :D

I just knew a comment like that was coming once I said that. Since I have all but purchased the M7040 I had to include it as the representative subject from the M-Class. I could have said the M125X I guess. But you got to be faithful to those by your side. I still do like the M8540. Shhh, don't tell the 7040, it may get jealous.

m7040--I don't think the question of mowers is whether or not to get a batwing; it's which of the two 10' mowers to get. I have decided that a good plan would be to get a 10' rotary cutter now. If later my pasture is more beautiful like yours, then I'll get something like a 15' batwing finish mower. The contours of my land are not very drastic. I may get some scalping but it shouldn't be much, especially once I learn how to approach the problem scalp-prone areas.
