OK..... if you say so, it must be true and gospel. But why? The mail carriers on the route know who lives where better than anyone else, because they deliver the mail every day. That is their job, to deliver the mail. Our mail is delivered into the rural mailbox by name, not address. If he were to follow your way of thinking, no one in town would ever get any mail, because the mail boxes are all grouped together at the side of the road, and each one has only a name on it. No street name or number. Just a name. That is all that they require, and that doesn't have to be on the outside of the box. Most everyone has it marked on the inside of the door in black magic marker. That is all that the Post Office requires. No street name, no house number, no town or zip code. Just a name.... You know what I mean?? Just put your name on the inside of the mail box door.

By your statement, you are suggesting that the U.S. Post Service should get involved in the Cities and States business of enforcing the laws, by not delivering the mail. Sounds far fetched to me that the U.S. Postal Service would want to take on the responsibility of forcing everyone to post there house number. Some cities and towns don't have a legal requirement that this be done. Is the U.S. Postal Service going to deny these people mail delivery also? The U.S. Postal Service is in the business of delivering mail, not telling people how they should live there lives. If I choose not to have a house number on my home and I have a heart attack, and the EMS people can't find my home, that is my problem, not the U.S. Postal Service.

1*When this County did the house numbering for the 911 emergency thingy it was done in cooperation with the US Postal service. The postal service officially changed mine and most other folks addresses to correspond with the County 911 system. In my book this made the Federal Gov a participant with the county.
Since the postal service was involved I see no reason why mail should be delivered to a location that that does not have a corresponding properly numbered 911 address.
2* In that case common sense would dictate there would no requirement to display proper 911 marking in order to receive mail delivery.

4*But your problem becomes my problem when your failure to have your location properly numbered and marked causes emergency personal to go on wild goose chases hunting for you.
Such wild goose chases cost them lost money. Money I pay to support them finically
Also such wild goose chases are a public safety hazard on the streets and highways.

The worst problem that I have with you not marking your property is that although mine is clearly marked and if you live near me, then if I call for emergency services, they may stop at your house thinking it is mine since it is not marked, delaying my emergency services, possibly resulting in loss of property or lives. I have no problem with your mailbox being unmarked but everyone should have an address posted by their driveway so emergency services don't go there accidently delaying their response. It is not so much so they can find you, but so that they can find your neighbor in time. Most of us like our neighbors and are willing to make this small sacrifice in the chance it may help them someday. This may infringe on your rights a little, but isn't it worth it to help a neighbor?

I just don't buy any excuse for not properly marking a property.
If one don't properly mark their property they don't deserve services such as utilities etc.at that property.
If they can do with out the NUMBER they Can do without the SERVICE

I really have a problem with this statement. How can you say that I do not deserve utilities to my property just because it is not marked? My family has two quarters of land that is not marked. There is just one farm within a one mile radius of this land. Should this land be marked? There is no current farmstead on this place, just a bunch of dilapidated buildings. If we decided to put an irrigation pump on this property, you would deny me the right to earn a living on it just because the property is not marked.

This excuse is not being sold to you, so you do not have to buy it. It is just a statement of fact in real life. Why someone may choose not to mark their property is their own choice.

It would make it easier for the power company to find your property to hook up service to your irrigation pump if your property was numbered. It would make it easier for the new meter readers to find your property too. Seeing the correct address might also stop the ambulance driver from pulling down your old driveway first when he is responding to a call about your neighbor having a heart attack. Naturally, if you just have timber property or fields with no visible dwellings (many people do live in dilapidated housing) and no driveways then it is not necesary to post your address numbers. I love my neighbors and it would hurt me terribly to know I was responsible for their death if the ambulance pulled into my unmarked driveway and wasted precious minutes while my neighbor died. This is not a question of your rights being violated, it is simply a matter of caring for others.
