Sounds like failing the inspection turned out to be a good thing. Nothing worse then finishing a job and finding out months later that there is a leak!!!

Are you living there full time in an RV?

I just started a thread about radon mitigation. I bought the pipe for last night. But now I'm having doubts on my design plan. Do I need an inlet pipe for better airflow or should I only have an outlet pipe?

No, EddieWalker, I am in the RV on weekends and days off. But I'd rather be here at the farm than back home 100 miles away.

Since I'm in Crozet, having some chick and waffles (and the internet is stronger) I thought I would update some photos.

For radon mitigation, the goal is to create a negative pressure under the slab so that the radon goes up the vent and not into the house. You do not want an external inlet pipe as that would make it harder to depressurize the sub slab space. Once you have the venting in subslab, then you need to determine if you need to put a radon fan in the duct by running a radon test in the basement (or main level if it is slab on grade) and seeing if you have an issue or not. If not, leave it. If so, then add the vent fan. Best to plan for the fan with access and power ahead of time as it is easy then.

For any leaking PVC fitting, the best solution to try is to goop it up again and again with pipe cement. It will seal up after an application or two (or three..).

Pipe dope is the thing to use for any threaded fittings. There are several types that stay flexible but seal a whole lot better than teflon tape. I use Harveys or whatever the local store has.

I forgot to mention, I pressurized both sides today and it holds fine. Looking forward to tomorrow and getting this monkey off my back.

Dstig, I used Vaseline. Pipe dope was my next choice for if the Vaseline failed but I was pretty sure it wouldn't. When I was a kid we had a 12 inch inline water filter that we always sealed with Vaseline and our water presssure was always very high.

Pipe dope is designed to hold pressure. I'm doubting Vaseline has "Rated to 200 psi" on the label... :D Use da right stuff.
