HELLO,
New poster here. I just got home with my new entry into the compact tractor game. a bx2200 with 1100 hours that I paid just under 5k for. It seemed to be a good deal to me. great story here I found it from a dealer on the internet that turned out to be my sister's next door neighbor, so we made the deal and I drove from virgina to Kentucky this weekend to get it. a couple of questions for the experts out here

1) I know the hours area bit high, what whould you do maintance wise to this unit for another 1000 hours of use?

2) So far I love it, but as it idles down, the hood rattles terribly, is there a good fix for this? is it the hood or is it idling rough?

3) has anyoneever seen a BX this cheap? did I get a good deal?

thanks

Welcome to the TBN!

If you didn't get operator manuals with this, I'd buy some. It has all the details on maintenance. Since you probably don't know the maintenance history, changing out the fluids should be prudent.

The BX is a nice unit. Mine has low hours and will last longer than I live....................

1100 hours are really not that many. Price sounds good, especially if you have a fel, or front end loader.
You should change fluids, especially the HST fluid. HST's are expensive to fix, and tolerances are tight. They depend on good clean fluid. Go to your nearest Kubota dealer and buy a new set of filters, the right amount of HST fluid, change it. HST fluid is not cheap, but at 1100 hours, it is time to change. Don't just concern yourself with the engine oil. Change every fluid.
Idle: Hood rattling is pretty common, price you pay for a steel hood, vs a Deere fiberglass. Many of us up the throttle just a little to find that "sweet spot idle". Just a little increase in idle speed will usually eliminate that shake that makes the hood rattle like that. Won't hurt a thing or burn any more fuel, really.

"3) has anyone ever seen a BX this cheap? did I get a good deal?"

I've been looking for a compact tractor for two months and noticed that the BX2200 in or near California were running about 7-8.5k with a FEL and box scaper or what ever you call those things. Seems that the better deals were in the mid and east states but the cost for shipping to California was too costly and would have exceeeded a reasonable price.

Like you I found my b7100dt, FEL, Gannon 3-1 rear box and kubota pto tiller on the internet. Turned out the seller was just 3 miles from my house; just love the internet /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
I paid $5500 and it had 1350 hours on it. I personally don't think that is very much and it works perfectly, well almost; checkout my "Stuck in reverse" post.

I just came from the tractor shop and bought transmission fluid, motor oil filters and a spare set of keys for my first maintenance and before I do a lot of landscape work. Anyway, congratulation and enjoy.

Welcome. I have a 2200 that used to have a rattle hood. I fixed that by applying a foam tape window insulation along body edge that the hood touched. Just cut it into narrow strips and then peel away the paper and put into place. It's been on there for two years and does cut down the noise somewhat. When I'm blowing snow, chipping, or using the fel the rpm's rarely go below 2000 so rattles are not a problem.

Good luck with your machine....you'll enjoy!

The BX2200 calls for Kubota SUPER UDT fluid for the transmission (2.7 gal) and front axle case (5 qts) not plain UDT fluid so bring a thick wallet! You can get reasonably priced manuals at tractorsmart.com. Have fun with your new toy and welcome to the forum.
