Ok, now I have a concrete floor which makes it much nicer.

Darrenone, concrete looks really good. What is the black material near the bottom of the sill behind the metal siding?

Thanks. That is tar paper normally used on roofs. They recommend that you don't put the metal right up against pressure treated lumber so I took a role of tar paper and cut it into 1 foot sections.

Makes sense, thank you. Stanley

I haven't posted in a while so thought I would update with a few more pics. This project goes along with a house I will be building there too. Well, we have accepted an offer on our current house and will be starting the new house as soon as we can close. Probably some time in August we will start digging for the new house. This will leave us homeless for a time but with family close we will get by. We also set up a tent at the property and can stay there some.
The barn has been coming along but slowly. We really need to get it finished soon as we are going to store our house items in there until the new house is completed.

Darren, thank you for the update. I have been following this post sine the beginning and appreciate the updates. Your pole building looks great and while slow and sometimes frustrating...it has to feel great to do so much of the work yourself.

Thanks for the kind words and I will try to do better with the updates. I still need to install the metal on the last wall and then do the soffits and facia. Then I will get started on the shop walls and mezani. We are also planning the house and trying to line up the utility company to get power hooked up. As the barn is about 500' from the road, we have decided on a transformer on the property mid way to the barn. From there, I will run to an outside panel and then to the barn and house. Also pricing out poured concrete walls for house basement. Our house has sold but waiting to close before we can get loan for new house. Going to be very busy for the rest of this year until house is done.

Well, I am getting closer to having the building closed in. It just takes along time working alone but it is what it is. I am now thinking about a layout for my wood shop which will occupy a 20x40 area in the barn. Anyone have any good layouts for a workshop with these dimensions? Trying to plan a layout to figure things like where the electrical should be. Also want a 60 gal. Air compressor somewhere in shop that I will hard pipe to various locations. I bought a few 8' HO T5 light fixtures and put two of them up in the 40x40 garage part just to see what they would look like and how much light they give off. I was amazed at the light these fixtures produce. I think I will put 5 of them in the garage part and that will be very well lit up. The work shop will have a nine foot ceiling in it with storage up above. I think 3 of these light fixtures in there will be plenty with maybe some additional lights over work bench and table saw. Anyway, here is a few more pics and any thoughts or ideals are greatly appreciated.
Darren

Well, pole barn is mostly done on the outside, have one side and one end to finish the soffit and facia. We are closing on our house this coming Friday and will be starting to dig our basement for the new house this week. Have been working on digging the water line to the barn from the well that will also be going in this week. Also working on the electrical line from the shop to the pedestal that I built for the outside panel and meter. We are having a transformer set on property because of the distance to the barn. The wife has been busy packing the the house stuff up and then we move it up to the barn for storage. A lot happening all at once.
