Before you do anything else, I would strongly recommend that you go buy a 5000PSI liquid filled gauge and the appropriate hydraulic fittings (NOT pipe fittings from Lowes) so you can tee it into the "pressure in" port of your loader valve. That will tell you if the problem is a weak pump that can't build enough pressure or the valves. It sounds a lot like a weak pump to me.

Hi Aaron-

I think this should be suitable right? I'd like to mount this right at the input to the loader control valve. I believe the control valve is SAE 6 so I need to find an adapter that can fit between the hose and the valve AND has a 1/4" NPT female port for this gauge. Or maybe I need an SAE 6 tee with a step-down adapter for the gauge.

These tees seem rather expensive. Is that just the cost of working at 5000psi? I've got to figure out if I've got 37 or 45-degree fittings.

Then the fluid has nowhere to go, and the pump is destroyed instantly.

Previously we'd discussed "Don't Do this" procedures that we could all live with. This doesn't sound like one of those situations to me. Sounds like avoiding this possibility, by not even plumbing for it, is the best defense against this problem.

I'm curious, is this a 'feature' of the quick connect, or is plumbing it like this in any arrangement (i.e. with threaded connections rather than quick connects) the real cause of the possible problem?

In a properly designed system there is a pressure relief valve somewhere in the system ahead of a quick connect. Farmer-designed plumbing may overlook this essential feature.

Sounds like avoiding this possibility, by not even plumbing for it, is the best defense against this problem.

Most factory quick detach loaders are plumbed where the loader valve stays on the tractor. Quick disconnects are put on the 4 loader lines for loader removal. Hence, pump flow is never compromised.

You likely have 37 degree jic fittings.

Always orient your cables and quick connects so that when you disconnect "out" and "in" from the valve you can just hook them together. Problem solved.

I had my 2002D plumbed just like that and JJ brought it to my attention if the quick disconnect gets snagged and comes undone your pump will be dead headed. May never happen but I think JJ's suggestion is the best way. New tractor with loaders are also plumbed that way.

Hi Djames55- I mis-spoke when I said mine behaves like yours. By that I meant that my loader works differently when the rear 3PT hitch has some pressure/weight on it, similar to the way yours does. I don't see why the presence or absence of rear weight should have any effect on loader performance. Mine appears to have other issues as well, which I'm hoping to sort out by replacing the control valve and a few hoses.

The weight on the 3 point has nothing to do with the way my loader behaves... What I'm saying is... If I lift my 3 point all the way up... My loader will lift 1000+ pounds...But will not curl or it will curl real slow... If the 3 point is down a little it won稚 lift but about 400 pounds... If Put my 3 point down 1 or 2 inches my loader will curl fast and normal... I'm just saying I can lift a lot more weight with the 3 point all the way up... And can curl normal with it down a little... Like Winston said it must be back pressure going back to the 3 point... I can live with it the way it works...I don't use it that much any way... Also I just got a great deal on a Backhoe Loader that will lift around 2500 lbs...

If you lift the 3 point all the way up, does it make a squealing sound? It sounds to me like that block is a tee with 4 ports rather than a true power beyond block.
Perhaps it is supposed to have a sleeve in it to keep the fluid from passing between the two oem steel lines?

That's the principle. See posts 160, 162 and 165 above. Might be a sleeve, or plug, or it might be the case that you remove the outer part of the block and reinstall it with the top edge down to redirect fluid out/in instead of straight through. At any rate the block is originally pass-through, steel line to steel line, and is designed so you can alter it to the mode shown in post 165.

Has anyone ever removed the cover to see what's in there? Now I'm curious.
