Gentlemen

I require your advice. How is the BX2360 with mowing on hills? Can it safely go across a slope of approx. 20 degrees. I have some banks with no provision for turning as shown.

All input greatly appreciated

We use a BX2660 which is the same as a BX2360 and it is extremely stable on hills, we routinely mow slopes that steep and steeper. You can get wheel spacers too, but we have never needed them.

I mow a hill that's 22 degrees (used my iPhone to measure it) with a BX2350. I wear my seatbelt most of the time when doing it, but I don't feel like I'm on the edge. Just be careful of holes and dips.

Make sure you're in four wheel drive when working on slopes though - makes a difference in stability.

Put some weight on your wheels, whether it be fluid or iron. If you have the loader on, take it off for mowing; it will remove a lot of weight from the rear end when you don't want it to. Take it slow so you don't find holes and bumps by accident.

I loaded my tires and parked my tractor on the hillside, then pushed on the rollbar. I could still easily lift the tire. My conclusion: more weight was needed.

Above all, respect your pucker factor. It may need some calibration, but it is still a valuable tool.

I have some bad hills - I go straight up the right side (let's say), then across the top and back down the left (lets say) side (alway use 4wd and low gear) - i continue this in a square pattern until I'm done. I also have a cab tractor so it's probably a bit more top heavy - it's a JD4720 with rear wheel weights and I put front weights on the front end.

About 1/3 of my yard is on a side slope. I also parked my tractor and got off and rocked it. It was pretty stable. I also have a steeper section that I mow up and down, it might be a little steeper than your picture I'm not sure. I could probably mow it cross wise, but I wouldn't feel comfortable. If at all possible, go up and down. I would even feel better mowing up and down if you have to back up and down the hill. Like someone else said, loading the rear tires helps a lot.

Hello All

Thanks for all the prompt replies thus far. I got weights on the front and back and in some spots (as shown) only go up backwards, however with a manual transmission and clutch its slow going. So I'm looking for something that's faster, easier and safer. I borrowed a neighbours JD X595 and it felt rock solid driving on my block. Over here the BX2360 is a bit cheaper than a JD X748 so now trying to decide between the two ... lots of old threads on the subject!
If I get a x748 i will need to keep the old tractor for the occasional hard jobs whereas the Kubota could do it all? Will ask the Kubota dealer about factory wheel spacers before any money changes hands.

thanks everyone!

Before I purchased my JD1023E I seriously considered the JD748. This is a real nice mowing machine, like they say it's the "Ultimate" machine. When I tried it out it felt very comfortable and agile. I didn't go with it because the FEL that came with it was not quite as rugged as I needed.
