Sorry for the off-topic post, but does anyone know of a messageboard frequented by electricians? I'm trying to find some info about the types and configurations of transfer switches used to properly connect a generator to a home electrical system. (I'm currently using an extension off the dryer circuit, and I'd really rather do it the right way!) 10 circuit transfer switches are reasonably priced, and I'm trying to figure out if I can install this myself or I'd be better off paying an electrician (given electrical codes in NC and Raleigh). Any know of a good MB?

Thx!
Dave

Dave: I've forgotten which forum, but there were a lot of posts on TBN about this not too long ago. For instance, I remember some rather strident recommendations not to plug into your house system without completely isolating from the power company, since you run a risk of electrocuting a lineman.
If you do some searches and keep after it, you'll find pretty detailed recommendations.
