Yes, goeduck - exactly. The kids on their mini-bikes found these "bumps" to be real fun. The skate boarders had a more difficult time.

This is going to take our snowpack in the mountains down quick.

Early loss of the snowpack could have long lasting effects. None of them good.

Something like a third of the California snowpack evaporated this year, which added significantly to the drought.

I hope for the folks in Portland that the forecast above is a typo. The National Weather Service is forecasting 112F. Even that is Death Valley heat. If the winds die down, trees are going to be dropping limbs like crazy.

Stay safe.

All the best,

Peter

Warm in the North East too. Humid also.

What the heck? Summer?

Sagging wires, for sure. The conductors are all aluminum, which expands when it gets hot. The wire sags.
i met a guy at a dog park in portland or. he owned a big big scrap metal place.

he told me they made a-ton of money scraping out electric power lines on the grid. he said they change them every so often.

he told me they were made from steel?

i know the runs from the xformer to the house are aluminum because i nicked one with a shovel once and 6 months later, 40 volts and the wire had a big white ball of oxidation holding it together!

i remember buying my country place in portland, maybe 15 years Ago? end of august.

it was over 100 degrees for about a week. the inspector couldn't get the furnace to turn on because it was hotter in the house than the highest settin on the thermostat.

he could have forced it but i didn't ask him to do that

no AC
