Fabbing a pump bracket for the fel. Along with that are the makings for new steel axle housings to replace the corroded aluminum ones for the Gator. Prefer to swing all the round stuff while in plate form, then cut the straight stuff.

In that case cut the circles freehand. It may be less awkward than using your homemade circle guide. Dress the circumference with a grinder before doing the lathe work.

A friend just showed me how he punched a one inch hole through 3/4" with his new iron worker. MUCH, MUCH nicer holes. lol

If possible to use a hand or bench mount punch, iron worker or punch press , PUNCHED holes absolutely RULE every time.

Also cost as much as a new truck! It did deform the 3/4" a wee bit.

Had to think of when a customer allowed me to use their Piranah Iron Worker to open up the holes in some mower blades. Like a gun going off!

Don't know if it has been mentioned or not. But did you take a reading at the outlet it's self, for amperage / volts? I have most likely over did the wiring on the outlet i use for my Plasma 50 Eastwood, i used #6. Only because my local hdwr. store had #10 or #6, no #8 unless sp. order. Ran 48' one way, has plenty of amps/volts. Also in the pic, it seems like the air isn't up enough to blow slag out of the way to be able to travel, just sayin. Inside of some cutters is a water seperater, does yours have this and is it clear of any obstructions, etc..? I have only cut up to 3/4", says can cut 7/8" but haven't found any metal that thick layin around here. Like Big Barn, i don't throw metal away much. Good Luck

Nothing wrong with 6ga wire. Except for my air compressor all my 230v is 6ga. As stated above it could be a bad ground to the work too.

There is a water separator in the unit. I added a larger one on the back, figuring two is better. The voltage at the plug is 120 each leg. Verified that when I installed it special for this. As for amps, I'm just going by what the machine display shows. Static and when in use. Air pressure is around 120 at the compressor, and it's recovery is, well, sorta good. The machine pressure is controlled by the user with the air gauge and pressure control knob.
I have the amps and the machine air pressure set to max for cutting the 1/2" stuff. Sunday's coming up and I plan on doing a bunch of testing on the diamond plate again. Circle cutting, freehand, guide, straight. Will see where tomorrow takes me.
Again, I really do appreciate the guidance.

I don’t know about Hypertherm, but I don’t drag on 1/2” material with my Miller 625 Extreme.

I drag on 1/2” and 3/4” with mine, no issues. I used to have pics of some 1/2” I pierced then cut. Had a pic somewhere of two 1/2” plates stacked and (roughly) severed from an edge start. I don’t recommend that, it’s messy, slow, and pointless.

I will definitely have to rethink what I do. Maybe I do drag with the stand-off tip if using a guide.

I know for certain I DON’T drag when NOT using a guide as I make a smoother cut without the friction.

I haven’t done much cutting in awhile. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it!

This is the only plasma cut pic I have.

I pretty much always drag and also use a guide/template. Only times I don't, it is for a creative something yard art. And I'm not that creative!
