Yes, but doing that wrong would just stall the engine. It should not cause the HST to blow up.
Thank you!

Three different Kubota dealership mechanics told me the same thing!

Depending how the backhoe was used before you purchased it may have stressed the hydrostatic transmission case. You and I both have no idea how this tractor was treated before you purchased it. The used hydro unit that was posted, if you can get a good warranty on it maybe your best most economical way out of this. I also agree with previous posters, don't skimp on the quality of the fluid. Use Kubota ultra full synthetic fluid. Best of luck, and I know you will get this fixed properly.
Thanks man I appreciate it!!!

I hate to mention it, but Hydrogear might make a specific and available only through Kubota HST.

I don't know if this is true, and for your sake I hope not.

But I've been burned too many times to mention by parts that are only sold in mass quantities.

"Sure you can buy some, they come in lots of 10,000. How many lots do you need?"
Actually the gentleman I spoke to at hydrogear that has worked there for over 20 years told me all I need to do is get the part number off of the HST and give it to him for the replacement. :)

Definitely don't need 10,000 of them lol!

I will keep you posted and send pics!

Thanks!!

There is a stripped BX for sale on CL in the South Shore Boston area. May be worth picking it up as I believe all the parts you need are still on it.
Can you send me a screenshot of the Craigslist post I cannot find it!

Thank you!

IMHO it is not your fault that your HST grenaded after running it low on oil once. Most likely it was run low many many times before you got it my friend. The original owner likely got it checked out because it was down on power. Found out the HST was pooched and sold his mistakes/errors on to you. Hard lesson to learn but get some pressure checks done on HST tractors before buying them people. At the end of the day hydraulic pressures in HST tractors are every bit as important as compression in the diesel engine. That said look for used/rebuilt parts. Get them checked out before installing them. Not sure how handy you are with wrenches but the HST unit may be pretty easy to change out. Doing it yourself is worth looking into.....might even be something on youtube to give you an idea what you are getting into. Worth a look anyway. As for new parts....I am not sure what your take is on buying over seas is but I have saved a bundle [up to 70% in one case] getting parts from China. If you are not totally adverse check out Alibaba.com or Made in China.com

Hey Pribec!

Well thanks for the very encouraging words!!!

If you read through the thread there was one Ahole on here that didn't feel the same way and had to give his negative two cents worth!

I'm very handy actually with wrenches and always have been a do-it-yourselfer. Took the top halves of both my Mercedes and BMW engines apart thanks to YouTube :) As a firefighter in nature I'm never afraid to tackle anything lol.

I've looked on Alibaba but not sure how I can cross reference or find the correct one I will have to look at the china.com website as well.

Appreciate it brother! If you have any other ideas or happen to run across one please let me know!

In looking at exploded parts diagram a possible place that piston came from is if the motor thrust bearing swash plate assembly disintegrated allowing the piston to come out of the cylinder block and thought the housing. other more unlikely option is if the motor drive shaft broke allowing cylinder block to move sideways and then piston becomes lawn ornament.

Agree will be interesting to see pictures of the casting and internals but suspect a severe depletion of cash for this project.

Other concern is where else did the debris go? Other bearings in transmission case, steering system, back hoe. Hopefully not since those are on a separate pump with filtered inlet.

Best wishes to the OP on getting this repaired and operating again.

With hydraulics cleanliness is a must.

Found it! Waiting to hear back.

Talk to the people over there. Yes there will be some language barriers but not as big of barriers as you may imagine in most cases. Keep in mind that what they call something may well be very very different than what we call something. Keep an open mind/think outside of the box when it come to the name of the part. Likely they will want to chat on whats app at some point. You know enough to have all the numbers. Maybe some dimensions bolt patterns flanges etc. Take some picture so you can forward them, whats app will make that easier. Well it did for me anyway....technological dinosaur that I am. lol me running into one here wont do you much good I am afraid......i am in Canada....freight costs. I have kind of mislead you with Alibaba. Alibaba will sell "samples" that is where is save d the 70%. Largely the companies advertising there want to sell you 100 ,1,000 or 10,000+. Aliexpress is kind of the retail division of Alibaba you may have better luck talking to/communicating with dealers on there. Good luck
