Keving, I've been following your post. thanks for posting photo's I've been working on my barn for a year..haha!! Trying to save money. Anyways I like that skirting on the bottom of the outside. My barn will be mostly a horse barn so it will remain clay with bedding. I was worried about the ends of the metal rusting over time as it would be in contact with the clay. If I have this 2ft skirt I can easily replace if necessary. Hopefully it lasts as long as the warranty quotes. I also wish I had not decided to do a second story. It's created a lot of work and killed my friends lifting all those rough cut 2x8's and 2x10's. I've been convinced by long time horse owners not to use concrete in the stalls with rubber mats. Can you post a closeup of how the lower panel is attached to the upper panel? I assume there is some metal coil behind the upper panel that is bent over the lower panel to shed water.

I'll start a seperate thread of progress as it's exciting to see barns go up. I have all posts, girders and floor system for second story done. Next is second story walls/trusses/roof.

Thanks for the post. The transistion from the lower "skirt" to the upper metal is a piece of metal called "Z" channel. This is put on before you put the upper metal on and, when finished, the z channel is behind the upper metal, over the top of the lower metal and about 2 inches down the front of the lower metal. I'll try to get some pics for you this weekend. I look forward to seeing your barn!

Kevin, what a great post and a beautiful building. Looks like it's built as strong as a Sherman tank.

Keving, If I could ask another question on lighting. How many 6 bulb fixtures do you have up in the picture with the tractor. Did I count four and how big is the lighted section of your building?.I need to light a 30x36 building and was wondering if 4 of these fixtures would give enough light.Thanks.

bones1,

There are 4 of those fixtures lighting a 40x48 area. IMHO, I'd stick with 4 for a 30x36. I like a lot of light. I also wired each light to it's own switch so I can select the proper amount of light needed.
