Has anyone with a dual-axle dump trailer installed one of those thick poly truck bed / trailer bed liners? I'm not talking about the ones the haz-mat boys use... the ones like large over-sized garbage bags. I'm talking the ~3/8-1/2" thick ones installed on serious materials delivery dump trucks and trailers to protect the steel bed and cause problem materials to slip out easier? Seems that would be a nice addition to my little 10K dump trailer if I can find a place that sells & fits them for a not-too-extravagant price.

If you can find one of the plastic walled small swimming pools the sides would be great for that, the one I have is 1/8 inch thick and 3 feet wide and about 30 feet long
and all free, side of road shopping LOL :D

Now that's funny! :D You sound like you are cheaper than me! :)

But I am actually looking to get the real deal... 1/2" thick and a piece 8 or 10 feet wide... although not necessarily from the "established" trucking suppliers.

Sounds like it may take us about one or two cases of beer to just get started
Too bad we live so far apart, I think we could have fun swapping stories

Jim, I can out-cheap, out-frugal, out-poor-mouth anyone. :) In my most famous story ever, I was working down in Louisiana when I was approached on the street by a bum looking for change. To make a long story short, we got into a conversation about our relative sorry situations... and by the end of the conversation, HE was digging into HIS pockets to come up with spare change for ME! This is not a made-up story. Can you beat that??? ;)

But back on topic before this gets moved to "Miscellaneous"... Someone out there must have gone out and bought themselves a dump trailer bed liner... yes???

How about you just spray some used motor oil in your bed before loading it? and it would keep rust down at same time LOL

Here is the stuff you're looking for. Better put your seat belt on it ain't cheap.
HMWPE Truck Bedliner
Hi Ed - I don't think that's so bad at all. $37.03 per foot for 1/4" thickness and 10-ft wide. Heck, I'd only need 7 feet for my little toy dump trailer... $259.21 plus whatever. Of course, I am looking for 1/2". Gotta be more. Maybe $350.00 like I had kinda sorta figured?

Personally I like Jim's idea. Right now I have one 15 gal drum I can let ya have. In about a week or so when I do the first service I ought to have another 15 to 20 gals you can have. :D I could let you have it all at a good price too.

Hey I just read Jim's thread on preserving the deck boards on his trailer. I think he is onto something here. Used motor oil might just turn into the next product like Simple Green. It works good for everything:D

I'll bet it wouldn't take half a quart to spray the bed of his trailer with a fine mist !!
Thanks Civesneldfield

Wow, you know with the oil I am willing to sell him, Doug will have enough on hand to spray down his dump trailer once a day for a year with a little left over. ;) The extra is just in case he has to work a weekend or too.

You two characters are just too funny! Go ahead and make your fun at the expense of the poor, old Dougster! :p But you are missing the point (and if I misled you, I apologize). This is all about protecting the dump trailer bed from demo debris going into the trailer... not coming out of it. Well, the latter too... but mainly I am looking for protection for stuff (read: busted up concrete, steel and stone) that I'm moving into the dump trailer with my FEL, grapple or backhoe. I can only get so close and so low before I have to release it into the trailer. THUD!!! Trust me, that 1/8" (3/16"???) thick trailer bed is not going to last very long in that kind of service without some serious added protection.

Come on Doug you know that we all like to make jokes at your expense. :D :D
I think you have too choices if you are trying to protect the trailer from the dreaded THUDDDDD A) don't drop it so far:D :D B) Plate the bottom of the trailer. Some nice 3/4" plate ought to take care of it. :D
