I sent Doug this in a PM and I should have posted it here for all of you to see and doug, do you know how much 1/2 plate weighs per sq foot? and cost?
Yikes

Always trying to sell the steel... aren't we Ed??? :D Aren't you ever off the clock??? :p

Dougster

Never. I got to pay for the spiffy hotel room and extremely large per diem some how. :D

Attached is the latest from Hartford.

I am not sure if putting something in the bed will actually help. I have a 1/2" rubber mat in the back of the truck. I dropped a heavy piece of angle one day and I did managed to dent up the bed under the mat.

Yea roughly 20 pounds per square foot. I don't worry about price. I just happen to work for a steel fabricator.

I do like putting some soft wood in the trailer though. And if it was me I would oil it up real good too...:D :D :D

Somehow I'm managing to confuse you guys very badly. Or maybe I'm confusing myself! :)

I'm not interested in adding any steel plate (even though Ed would LOVE to make a sale!!! :D ). I'm only asking about adding a 1/2" thick poly bed liner... like the big boys use. No steel. No oil. Just poly. :D I'm wondering if anyone else has done it... and how it held up and what it cost.

I think you guys just like goofing on the poor old Dougster!!! :p

Man, look at all that steel! :) No wonder they pay you so much money! ;)

I don't think a rubber mat is going to help much with nasty large chunks of concrete, steel and stone. :(

I told you thst welike doing that:D But seriously now that you have asked the right question. I have been out in the construction world here for going on 22 years. In all that time I have never seen a truck bed with a liner in it.
Now back on the farm the manure spreader does have one of those liners in it, but thats just for keeping things from getting stuck.
Does that answer your question.

I still think the wood idea was a good one though. :p

Down in hurricane country in 2004 and 2005, lots of the biggest trucks and trailers were poly lined. Not so much with the little trucks and trailers. Some of the liners were holding together quite well and others were literally falling apart... but it was a very common thing for me to run into. :)
