Lookin at the specs, it's a no brainer. Get the MX!

Doesn't make sense the L4600 cost more?

Dang, the L4600 must have gone up in price a lot since I last looked?

I'd have to go with the mx4700DT here...

Yep for sure. When I bought my tractor the MX4700 was certainly more than the L4600. Even moreso when the FEL was in the deal. They musta dropped some kind of promotion on the L4600 since I bought making it closer to MSRP, or they are putting forth an effort to sell MX4700s with good pricing. My dealer told me that the 4700 was a bit more difficult to sell since it was what he called a "overlap tractor". It had the same horsepower of the L4600 but the chassis of the MX5100, and most folks who opted for a MX-line almost always picked the 5100.

You cant lose with any of 'em !

TripleR, is the MX line considered CUT ? I thought it was considered an entry-level Ag or Conventional model.

Just wanna be sure Im not saying the wrong thing in the future.

Kubota call the 46-68 HP tractor a "Special Utility Tractor." The next lines of MX are "Deluxe Utility Tractor," then "Special Ag," and "Mid-Size Ag." The L's are still called "Compact Utility Tractor."

One of those "rose by any other name" things. If an L30/L40 is considered to be a CUT then specs would indicate the MX is in the same category. I think the M is listed as an Ag tractor, but mist consider the M51/9540 as a UT the bigger an Ag.

There is a loooong discussion on definitions with claims the Mahindra Max is not a SCUT as they claim, but rather a CUT.

I will withdraw my description and go with whatevever they choose to call them; so I stand corrected.

I went in to the dealer today. The original salesman I was working with was off today. Apparently the price he gave me on the L4600 was really good according to the other salesman. I got a price of $27,500 for the MX5100 4x4 HST with FEL quick attach. The MX4700 in the same configuration would be $26,630. Judging by this salesman's response to the "really good pricing" on the L4600 that I was given at $25,500 and the fact that the MX5100 and L4600 are nearly identical in price on Kubota's website, I suspect I can get the MX5100 for at least $26,500 if I tried hard enough or at least convince them to add on something like the 3rd function or filled tires or chains or something. Maybe fluids for the first service interval even.

At this point the MX4700 is out. For $880 difference it's a no brainer to get the MX5100. I might price check at another dealer just to see what they tell me, but I'm not going to hold my breath for much better pricing. I think the pricing I was given is pretty close to where the norm is.

Why do you say the 5100 is a no brainer? I know the telescoping lift arms are nice, but I'd personally rather not have the turbo. My manual suggests idling the 5100 for more than a couple of minutes prior to shutdown to cool the turbo. Also, that turbo makes the tractor much thirstier. Do you need the 4 extra HP for a baler or something?

Any remotes on that 5100 for $27,500?
