Pulled large fertilizer cart behind my JD 4500

Yesterday I spread about a ton of fertilizer on my 12 acres of pasture and lawn using a fertilizer cart supplied by the local grain elevator. I was really worried if the JD 4500 would handle it, but it did great. Uphill, downhill (only slightly), and across small ditches it did fine. I'm guessing the cart full weighed about 5000 - 6000 lbs. At 60ft spread it didn't take long. The nice thing about the cart is the spread fan runs by PTO at constant speed but the conveyer runs with ground speed. It automatically changes application rate with speed. Plus the fertilizer is a lot cheaper than buying it in bags! I attached a picture of the tractor when I was finished.

What's the HP on the JD 4500? Do you have any idea as to how much it weighS?

4500 is 39HP, 33 PTO. According to the specs in the manual it weighs about 3300 lbs. With the loader I'm guessing about 3750.

I used a big spreader like that this year, except the one I used did not have PTO assist. On the scale, I weighed in at 2,500 lbs. I but 4,000 lbs in it and then went and tried to pull it across a plowed field with my 2wd Ford 2000. I got the job done, but the tractor tried to "dig to China" a couple of times. Taught me a lesson. Next year I'll spread before I plow. Shouldn't have any trouble then. I'd guess your tractor could handle that spreader and lot more than 1 ton if you are spreading on grass.
