Raising an extension ladder

Sorry - I was trying to be funny. Thanks for your reply.

I’ve tried all avenues and am where I am. No issues.

I'm not sure what kind of exemptions are available in Mo. But, generally, I am against exemptions for most property taxes because everyone should bear the burden equally based on their valuation as long as we have property taxes. If we could eliminate them entirely we should do it.

But, the system is what it is so I hope you get all the exemptions that are available to you.

Not enough $$ out there for me to climb a 40 foot ladder. I can rent a manlift for $200 a day incl delivery and pickup. Cheaper than hospital bill. I hate climbing my 28’ ladder.

I’m ok on ladders still but carrying a 40’ ladder seems more dangerous to me.

Is it just me or does the wind blow hard upon climbing a ladder or lighting a large fire?

When I work on my barn lights, also up about 24 ft, I put two extension ladders in tractor bucket. Bucket is up about 10ft so just 14 ft more. I have backhoe on, stabilizers down, bh bucket out and down. It's very stable.

Where there is a will, there is a way as evidenced by all of the solutions here.

When I had less sense, I did repaint the third story of a house by putting a ladder on the tailgate of a station wagon. Once. I am more sensible now, or at least somewhat more sensible.

Most of the high stuff I need to access is on areas not suitable for motorized equipment, so for me it is either ladders or ropes. Mostly, I plan out what I am going to do, and get it done quickly. When I am up, I find myself having occasional thoughts like "this is NOT a good time for an earthquake". :)

But no, I don't particularly like heights, and tend not to stand by the edges of balconies and cliffs. I think it is the unknown factor of how solid the construction is or how stable the cliff is. I don't mind working on a ladder or a roof, even metal roofs. Go figure. Years of practice perhaps?

All the best,

Peter

Twenty five pounds ago... not sure that roof would hold me now!!! It now has a metal roof. Mainly just used for storage.

Heights must be something you get used to when you're young, or else it will never happen. I've never cared for high places, but used to prune apple trees from a 20 foot ladder without a problem. As time went on I pared them down so that a 16 foot would do... these days I have a 13 foot ladder and if I can't reach a limb from there I cut it off.

Somehow for me it is the grapple teeth that stand out in that photo...Yikes!

Glad that you made it.

Figured the grapple would "catch" me if I fell... 😱 Actually, never thought about it until now... that looks a lot worst now than it did back then. 👍

Funny how that is. I also get focused on the task at hand and then later...

Thanks for sharing.
