If I could add a few notes...

I've got a Woods 7500 with subframe and pump on my B2910.

The subframe stays with the backhoe, all that remains on the tractor is a small bracket attached to the loader frame (I think). That bracket doesn't present any ground clearance issues, however my understanding is that it will interfere with a mid-mount mower, if that's something you're looking thinking about adding. I thought I remember my dealer mentioning that Woods is developing (releasing?) a new sub-frame mounting system that might alleviate the MMM problem.

Woods will paint their backhoes to match factory colors, so mine is Kubota orange.

Strongbow:

Welcome to TBN. You might have better luck with responses if you fill out your profile and start a separate thread, so it doesn't get lost in the shuffle. Tell us more about your planned uses - and what part of Alaska? My experience fighting fire in central Alaska was 12 inches of tundra moss over permafrost. You must be near the coast if you have real soil. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Thanks Casimir, didn't intend to break protocol(seriously). Tried to edit profile just now but it wouldn't except my bio. I live in the MatSu valley in Wasilla. This is where they grow the giant cabbages. No permafrost here, we have not even had a winter to speak of. My topsoil is thick and very rich. Thanks for all the info, incredible amount of experience here which is right on target.

I am from the same school as I think Greg is, I have always used propritary accessories/equipment with all my purchases. I just think that the mfg should know best. But now on the other hand for the first time I have purchased a camera lens that is not made by the camera company and I did that because it did the job better. Old dogs can learn...! The Woods I heard is a verg good BH and the sub-frame sounds easier for 0n/0ff's. I think I will look hard into the choice this week.

Now that there is the Kubota 0% financing I will be using them for the purchase. The BH decision could be made easier if I can't finance the BH part of the purchase if it is a non-Kubota item. Does anyone know if Kubota will allow the Woods BH to be financed with their paper? It looks like the BH cost will amount to about 30.5 % of the total cost.

Good thing I haven't already taken delivery, I would be busting to use it but we had January weather in March, 8 degrees this morning here in NJ.

Kubota financed my B2910 with Kubota loader and bucket, Woods 7500 backhoe, subframe and pump and a Woods 1160 post hole digger and auger. I put about 25% down. Dealer said some percentage (forgot how much) must be Kubota euipment to get Kubota Credit to finance it. Assuming things haven't changed since then (June 2000), financing the backhoe should be doable.

PK, just wondering what a "removable tooth bar" does. Like you were, I am now just about sold on the BX22 for clearing and maintaning my 5 acres. Will that implement help get rid of all the scrub birch I have on my property. The moose keep them from getting tall but they are really hard to get up. I also am concerned about clearance so have attached a photo of what my front looks like. The back is thicker, what do you guys think.

Just wanted to thank everyone who replied to my request for opinions.

I ordered a B7500 and expect delivery next week. Wrestled with the BX22 but decided to move up (literally) to the B7500 because I believe I will neeed the extra clearence. If I'm wrong I doubt I will regret it. I have no intention to use a MMM, so the mowing issue was not a factor.

Thanks again for all the help.

Congratulations!!!!! If you thought the shopping process was hard…….wait until you see what it is like looking down the drive for a week to see if the tractor has come yet. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Which backhoe did you go for?
