Yesterday I decided to remove a large stump left over from hurricane Isabel. Previously I had cut the roots with the stump grinder, but was unable to pull it up. I decided to trench around it with the minihoe. Then I cut more roots with the stump grinder. Then I dug around some more with the trencher. I rigged up a strap and post and comealong to pull it up. This did not work. I went out and bought a high lift jack and put it under a root that was hanging out. I was able to lift one side of the stump over a foot. I then stuck a few logs under that side to keep it up. At that point I attached my Toyotoa Tundra (60% parts and labor made in America) with 8000 pound staps. One of them broke with out even moving the stump a little. I have attached a picture. Does anyone have a suggestion. My next step will be to grind it up.
It probably should have been my first step.
