OK I am asking for some help again....

I got my B7610 with the 4672A BH this week.

Unfortunately the ROPS that was on is the non-foldable one.

When I sit on the BH seat my head hits the top bar of the ROPS.

I was wondering .. Is the Foldable ROPS higher than the one I have?

I went to the dealer and they told me they could replace it but it would be a big job since they must take it all off i.e. take the parts under the tractor besides the 3pt.

What I find funny is that I was able to take off the top part of the ROPS with only taking off 4 bolts (the ones that holds the small yellow lights)

Isn't it possible to just put the top portion of the foldable ROPS on top of the tractor on the same posts with the 4 screws?

I have a feeling my dealer is trying to pull a fast one on me.

Thank you in advance again.

Dan

Not good ... if things go wrong this is a potentially fatality just waiting to happen.

On my B2910 the foldable ROPS is significantly higher than the fixed ROPS ... and the foldable ROPS is required for the backhoe. read your manual - it may be required on your model as well.

I dunno about this.

That is a dangerous situation.

I am very surprised they sold you the backhoe without the foldable ROPS.

I think they're kinda screwing you... If your dealer doesn't square this away by replacing the ROPS at his cost, I think you should contact the area Kubota representative. I wouldn't be surprised if you find out the Foldable ROPS (or an extended one, such as required on the Deere 790) is mandatory with the backhoe.

My dealer Installed a backhoe on a kubota b7800 and put foam around the rollbar where the operator would bump his head. I asked the dealer about this and he said the customer did not want to pay for a new roll bar. I agree this is unsafe, you should get a taller roll bar. David

My dealer sells everything with foldable rops. He says it avoids alot of problems down the road which I agree with.

I don't think foldable rops are available on the sub-compacts.
Folks buying those tractors and then adding an after market BH are getting into the same dangerous position that Dan c has found himself in.

Hi,

Can you explain to me what is an after market BH? I am not sure I understand what you guys mean.

The BH I bought is a Kubota 4672A and I bought it at the same time as my B7610.
I spoke to the sales rep this morning, and he admitted he made a mistake, normally they don't sell Folding ROPS on the B7610, it's an option and is about 150$ U.S. extra. (The foldable ROPS part number is SFB-F24 while the non foldable s SFB24A).

Finally he sent his driver pick up the tractor right away and will install the folding ROPS this afternoon or tomorrow morning at his expense, (he said he will take the labor and price difference of the part) Plus will weld 2 extra hooks on my front bucket free of charge.

Finally I think he wanted to make sure I was satisfied and so far I am happy about it...... will let you guys know how it turns out.

Thanks again all for you very helpful information.

I totally agree. Adding factory installed folding ROPS adds about $!50 to $200 to the cost of a B7610. They'll probably now charge you about $500 to install a new one. They never should have sold you the B7610 w/ BH and not have included folding ROPS. Maybe they had the B7610 on the lot and didn't want to order one with folding ROPS., but that's no excuse.

Aftermarket is a term that is usually used to describe accessories that are put on a vehicle and are made by a manufacturer other than the original equipment manufacturer (OEM). In the auto industry all the fancy wheels , stereos, body kits, etc. that people add to their cars after they buy them are aftermarket parts. In the tractor world all the implements, backhoes, FEL's etc. that can be added to a tractor but don't come from that tractor's manufacturer would be called aftermarket.
There is one other reason that I would complain about not having the folding ROPS - it will make working with the backhoe a real pain every time you use it . The larger ROPS that came on my BX23 makes working on the backhoe a pleasure. I never hit my head - there is more elbow room etc. When you look at a SubCUT tractor with one of the Woods Groundbreaker X backhoes and the original non folding ROPS I don't know how people stand sitting inside that tiny area. Must spend a lot of time hitting head and elbows on the ROPS while working the hoe.

Thanks Jim for the explanation.

For what it's worth my BH is not an aftermarket, it's a Kubota B4672A and it's made by Kubota....

Also the dealer will install the folding ROPS free of charge, it was his mistake and they are suppose to correct it tomorrow.....

Thanks again all for the information

1*A BH built by another company rather than the tractor manufacturer.
2*Yours is an OEM bh but it should not have been mated up with a tractor having a short ROPS.
This is what's happening where After Market Back Hoes are being installed on Sub-Compact tractors such as Kubota MF & JD.

In your case it doesn't matter if it's OEM or AM.
No BH should be teamed up with a short ROPS.

Glad to see your dealer saw the error of his ways and is not only correcting things but going the extra mile with the free hooks.
He is to be commended.

From everything I have been told on the Kubota BX's and New Holland TZ's the manufactures are not rating the rear axles to accommodate backhoes; and do not recommend them. Our Kubota reps says that the BX23 has a different rear axle to allow that one unit to accommodate backhoes.

I just jumped on Kubota's web site and if you want to double check; Kubota lists backhoe's available for every tractor model except fo the BX1500, BX1830, and BX2230. You might want to reconsider putting a backhoe on one of these subcompact tractors.

Jason

You might want to look at the back of the 2230 and the 23. The rear ends are identical. The differences are the additional sub frame supports. The Woods kit actually add more steel tot he bottom than the OEM Kubota on the BX23. The smaller ROPS on the 2230 is the only real PITA and the solution to fix that is a costly. I love the Woods GroundBreaker X that I have on my BX2230, I think the design is actually better than the OEM, but the kit should include a larger ROPS.
