We might get 8 inches of snow from this storm so I'll use the X1100C when plowing our driveway. I used it today scraping down the driveway and plowing a few walking trails around the house, I'm getting use to it.

I usually use our Mahindra 4540 for the driveway and the trails around the house.

It started raining last night around 7:30 p.m., when I looked outside just after 4:00 a.m. this morning we didn't have any snow so I went back to bed. When I woke up we had some very wet heavy snow with rain underneath.

I had always heard the RTV's can push snow so I started plowing with it in low gear and 4 wheel drive. I have about 240 or 300 pounds in the back and it handled everything. After I was done plowing the driveway, I used the Mahindra 4540 to push the banks back before they freeze solid with the colder weather coming in.

I usually drink coffee when I plow, but steak is a good idea too!

Downloaded the Owner's Manual in preparation of my RTV-X1100C being delivered next Tuesday and was surprised to see that they recommend a 50 hour break in.

Do not Operate the Vehicle at Full Speed for the First 50 Hours

Do not start quickly nor apply the brakes suddenly.

In winter, operate the vehicle after fully warming up the engine.

Do not run the engine at speeds faster than necessary.

On rough roads, slow down to suitable speeds.

Do not operate the vehicle at fast speed. The above precautions are not limited only to new vehicles, but to all vehicles. But it should be especially observed in the case of new vehicles.

This can be kind of difficult as I only put on about 30 hours a year but that's mostly pushing snow around which is kind of hard to do if taking it easy on the machine.

Checked the manual for my RTV900W I'm trading in and noticed it had the same recommendation but don't remember paying any attention to it.

I did some cleanup with the X1100C the other day, I have 240 pounds of tube sand in the bed, had it in low and 4wd and it pushed that wet heavy snow we received. If I put the chains on the back tires, I think it could push whatever mother nature throws at us.

We actually received rain and then the wet heavy chit after.

New RTV-X1100C delivered yesterday with the V5293 4PT Hitch / Power Unit and a 78" V5295A V-Blade. Plus some LED light kits, mud guards and a grill guard adapter kit for the summer when I take off the plow and power unit.

Got to use this morning on about 4" of new snow - drives much smoother than my old 2004 RTV-900W with a 72" blade.

Did find the shifter balky to use - hope that gets easier when broken in.

Also installed a cheapo radio from Amazon - it works - but diesel is noisy even with the factory cab so better for talk/news radio than music - maybe the Bluetooth phone will be useful but haven't tried that yet.

Looks very nice. There are times when you just barely touch the brake and it will shift better and then there are times when you really need to stomp on the brake for it to shift. I also find that when plowing, you might have to raise the plow some which will make it shift better when your're done pushing the snow.

I had stopped by our Kubota dealer to talk with them about not liking how it shifted, they said they would send a guy up here if I wanted them to take a look at a certain adjustment that affects the shifting, I think that I'll call them after February 2.

I was surprised to read the small print on Kubota's warranty that they don't include pick up and delivery to the dealer for warranty work - owner is responsible - and that they can charge for a tech to come to you. Back when I bought my 2004 RTV-900 it was included.

I suppose that a good dealer wouldn't charge to send out a tech - maybe depends on distance involved - but no guarantee. My closest dealer is 20 away so 40 round trip - hope I don't have to find out

The shifting will get a little better over time, but it's very important that the HST pressure release valve actuates properly when you push on the brake pedal. It releases pressure from the HST to take load off the gears so you can shift. I had to adjust mine once or twice to get it right. The adjustment procedure is given in the owner's manual. At least in the 2015 owner's manual, the instructions were a bit confusing with a few mistakes. But if you look at the mechanism, it will be obvious how it should work.

I did some plowing today, first I did the driveway and then a bunch of walking trails around the house.

Picture 1429 is me stopping to grab some CD's from my truck just before heading down to plow the neighbor's driveway,1428 is the lower part of the driveway, 1430 & 31 are some of the trails I plowed and the last two are some deer resting under some white pines.

How does it move snow compared to a older traditional Jeep or compact truck?
Not talking about speed between locations or comfort, just the raw ability to push snow.

For many years I plowed with a truck but this little tank with 240 pounds of tube sand in the back lets me plow places I could never go with a truck. The deepest snow I've plowed with the RTV - X1100C was 10 inches of very wet heavy snow, it handled it with ease in 4 wd.

They can be a ***** to shift but I'm learning what works in different situations. Today when plowing the driveway, it shifted fine.

Seems like it would be great for plowing a small housing complex
Great thread-informative and discusses the good & bad.

Because we'll use it in the spring, summer and fall hauling out firewood, I went with the ATV tires they offered.

I was on some site and saw a few guys talking about using it for plowing out an apartment complex. We have a Mahindra 4540 with a plow so when it comes time to push the banks back, I use the 4540.

The nice thing about the tractor is if we get 20 plus inches of snow, it will walk through that without any problems.

I sprayed some WD - 40 on a paper towel and wiped down the rod that pushes in when you step on the brake, it shifted better after that.

Do you or can you get a pic of the adjustment you're talking about?

Thanks
Mike

Yep. I use my F-350 for all the typical storms. If Mother Nature wants to get real angry, Ive got the M126X with snow plow or my 8’ high cap snow bucket.
I have a housing complex on which I farm all their open space (this place is amazing, only about 50 residents, but about 100 acres of open space). I farm the hay on the fields, cut all the remaining open space and most of the residents lawns. Now I need to get the snow removal contract. A RTV1100 would be perfect for plowing roads, their wide sidewalks, and doing some of their other chores. They have well houses with water softeners in remote spots. Bagged salt needs to be carted to them for filling. A few trees need mulched, and the roads need to be blowed off. I think all that work could be accomplished with one.
Just need to get that snow removal contract.....
Real good thread for understanding how well these work.

The only thing I don't like is how these things shift. When I get out by the road at the end of the driveway, I do a U turn instead of stopping and backing up and then go straight in. For some reason our UTV has a very hard time shifting out there and it's flat. If I were looking at buying this RTV again, I would be looking at different options.

Maybe it just needs an adjustment but just remember if you test drive one without a plow, it will shift different once the plow is on. I think it's well built and will plow places our Rhino couldn't so that is nice.

I'm not bashing the RTV but just putting up info on my experience with it.

Good luck with what ever you do.

There is a cable that causes that lobe-shaped "cam" in your picture to pivot and push that plunger in when the brake pedal is pressed. You can adjust the cable so that you get the desired amount of motion of the plunger. I had to adjust mine -- I suspect the cable had stretched so it was no longer pushing in the plunger very far. Once adjusted it made a big difference. In the owner's manual they give some dimensions to check the plunger range -- the numbers were out of whack in my owners manual from the fall of 2015 (very obvious typo) and I wonder if they have corrected it by now. I had to work it out by trial and error.
