SA324 Backhoe Attachment

   / SA324 Backhoe Attachment #31
Last year I purchased a new SA324 with a bucket, forks, gannon box and what I thought was a BH660 backhoe like Yanmar recommends. When the
tractor was delivered it had a BH760 installed. When I contacted the dealer and told him I felt the tractor was too small and under rated for this size hoe
he gave me a story about how the SA324 motor was rated at 24hp but was actually in the 27hp class and the hoe would be fine. I didn't buy it and I have tried to contact Yanmar 3 times and they don't respond back. This tractor is flat scary to drive on anything but hardpack. That extra couple of hundred pounds back there makes the tractor extremely light on the front end and near impossible to steer in soft soil. It goes where it wants not where you aim it.
I have about 10,000 hrs. combined between a Case 580D hoe, a Michigan 35A Loader and a John Deere 444 loader so it's not like I'm new to this. Has anyone else had similar issues with there tractors. This dealer pulled a few other things over this sale and he's about ready to get a visit from the Arizona
AG because of his refusal to make things right. My problem is I have tried to make Yanmar aware of this 3 times regarding the hoe and the tractor financing and some other issues and they have failed to respond. In my book silence is consent and that makes them part of the problem instead of part of the solution. I would not recommend a Yanmar tractor to anyone if this how they deal with customers.

P.S. You can also have back the tool kit you gave me. Your other half told me as a sign of appreciation for purchasing the tractor he was throwing in a
special tractor tool kit that was worth $500. Turns out it's a cheap Chinese suitcase toolset that sells on eBay for $79.95. It too is brand new and untouched.

Tim,
I have no idea about what you are referring to by an “other half”, nor am I even sure what that means. As far as your having issues (as you say) “from the beginning”, I cannot speak to that as I was not employed here at the time you purchased the tractor.
As far as your comments about Yanmar, I was not aware that you have been in contact with them. If you prefer to resolve the issue directly with Yanmar, that is fine as well. My only goal is to help you resolve it.
What I can assure you is that, per our Company policy and previous offer, we will fully refund your purchase – simply return (or make arrangements to return) the tractor and we will be happy to refund your purchase in full (including the finance company of course), with no questions asked.
Sincerely, Ana

You know what. I talked to an Ana from the company I purchased the tractor from and since you know my name I doubt that it is a coincidence. If you or your company has not talked to Yanmar today then I guess Greg from Yanmar lied to me. If your only goal is to resolve the issue then keep it simple and do what I asked.

You have my e-mail. Have your boss send me a message outlining what his plans are. If you want your tractor back then I want to know how the loan from the finance company will be taken care of and I want written instructions from them. You giving me assurance is not good enough. Also if you give me a refund I will accept cash only and it will be at my house where the tractor can be picked up and I will have a deputy standing by to keep everything civil. Or you can do what I ask and bring the proper backhoe and 5' gannon box that I paid for and I will throw in a few hundred dollars to cover fuel costs
if you bring me the proper hoe. If you think I'm being unreasonable that is your prerogative, however, since you have my complete file I suggest you go over the numbers on the loan app. and the balance due amount on the check I gave to your delivery guy. If you look at what was delivered compared to what I purchased there is some fuzzy math there. No phone calls. I no longer trust your company and I want everything documented.

Dang dude.
I agree 100% that slim shady dealer did you wrong.
I’d be super po’d to. But step back and take a deep breath.
If there gonna give you all your money back, then let them have the tractor and go somewhere else and buy another one.

They can have their tractor back. I'm not being unreasonable. I still owe $12k on this and I want assurances from the finance company that the loan is considered paid in full and it's off the books. I don't think I need to step back and take a deep breath for that. If you saw all the e-mails that went back and forth between us last year I think you would see where I'm coming from.

Super shady. No offer to simply deliver the proper backhoe, as purchased, but rather a return and refund so they can presumably sell the same improper equipment to somebody else. Seriously Yanmar, you need to look into these folks. The evidence of them shipping your machines to customers with improper backhoes is all over their website. You should put a stop to it before someone hurts themselves.

You can't simply deliver a factory-installed backhoe: a sub frame, hydraulic valves and plumbing need to be installed by a professional service tech. A buy-back is a reasonable outcome.

I've already stated a buy back is fine. I just don't want to get stuck with that loan and not have anything. What's funny is I was just looking on the internet and there is a 550 backhoe that I would have been fine with. It weighs half as much as that thing hanging off my tractor right now. If you go back to the beginning of this thread I stated that you couldn't steer this tractor in soft soil. If he wants to trade me for a smaller unit I would be okay with
that. But I still need a 5' box instead of the 4' box he sent. Why would I purchase a box narrower than the tractor ? He still needs to correct the paperwork so I have a tractor, a bill of sale and a loan agreement that having matching serial numbers. With the extras I purchased and the sales tax and down payment I paid out just under $10,000 so far.

I’d definitely get my money back.
Also I’d make them come pick up the tractor at their expense.
Glad you didn’t get hurt using it. I hope yanmar burns that dealer a new one for screwing you over.
And thank you for your service in Vietnam. My brother was there also.
