screwdrivers

Screwdrivers seem to be one of those things that have a habit of accumulating; get a better set or one for a particular configuration and you wind up with spares. Which can come in handy if you need a really long one and cut one off at the handle and weld it to another cut at the tip for a deep recess that a socket and extension won't fit into.

Anyone else have a set of these security bits? The need doesn't arise too often but if you ever need into something like a microwave they sure are nice to have.

I have a set about 1/3 that size, and they have been invaulable a few times to take apart appliances. I repaired the tea maker the other day, and had to have them

Splined head bits!!! I havent' run into one of them in probably 30+ years. Think I still have a 70s-vintage Xcelite tool roll that had a whole set of them.

Yes I have been known to teach the evolution of drivers to youngins.

Note how the Robertson, eh, Canadian design is further up the evolutionary chain then the American Phillips  but once again the Germans have to one up everyone with the torque drive.

Torx you mean......

If anyone has been sort of interested in those security bits and are within driving distance of a HF store, it might behoove you to check out their tent sale this weekend, as they have them on sale for $3. I've also got a couple sets of the orange handled ones at the bottom of the page and they seem to be pretty well made.

I'm still looking for a screwdriver that can take real abuse. Craftsman are just OK. I bought some Husky at HD, and they are soft as butter. Oddly enough, I bought a big orange handled one at Harbor Freight, and it's the toughest one I own. I can even put a wrench on it. Of course, they don't have those anymore.....
