We've posted the server specs before. It's no secret.

We're running the server on an AMD 750mhz processor, has 256 megs of ram, and a 9.1gb SCSI drive. We're running on RedHat 6.2.

We run about 38-40gigs of traffic a month off this site.

And we've got a lot of speed for those gigs to run over. As most people will testify.

What kind of database, server, and storage system? In the storage systems we're designing we go to great lengths to make it impossible for that to happen. When we tell the DB the data's on disk, it's on disk or we guarantee it will get there even if there is a crash or power failure. Given this the DB should never corrupt. You may lose transaction, but integrity should never be compromised.

"Major" is kinda relative! I tried to get on TBN this morning and was getting the SQL error referencing the /var/... directories.

This caused two things to happen. One, for the first time, I wondered what OS/hardware was running TBN. I can't believe I never thought about that before. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif And two, since there was no TBN, I started to shake, drool, sweat, and had visions of pink tractors! I think that was "major"!!!!!! /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Seriously, I've been very impressed with TBNs reliability and speed. When I can't get to servers at my company the first thing I do is try to get to TBN. If I can get to TBN then I know our servers has issues again. If I can't get to TBN we have more serious problems... /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Single server on RedHat Linux 6.2, 750mhz, 256mb ram, 9.1gb SCSI... we thought we might need a RAM upgrade soon after going to this new server (made the change about 7 months ago) but it has really been doing fine, with plenty of capacity to spare...

Ditto for me. It may even more serious than that though. I've taken a few days vacation. One of the planned activities was to spend a little extra time on TBN./w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif Tried to get on at 5:00 am this morning and immediately experienced TBN Withdrawal./w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif Now that Muhammad and crew have things back up running and have checked out a couple of post. I'm well on my way to recovery./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
