I saw this at auction. I have never seen anything like it and can't find a lot of information. The white cowling is actually a head light, how weird is that.

I was thinking about a slow speed night time generator. Just enough to keep fridges/freezers, electronics and lighting available. I thought 2000 rpm was slow, and then realized my sets now do 1800 so I wasn't as enthusiastic anymore.

Thanks! That explains a lot. I couldn't imagine that thing as part of a motorcycle!

Interesting. I tried to view that link and only saw parts, alternators and such.

Those walk behind diesel tractor/tillers are absolutely everywhere in China.
With a sulky/trailer, mom and pop, and kid (formerly only one in China), all can also ride into the village.

I would love to see a torque chart and see what kind of HP it might make at 1000 RPM? I think, this one might be hand start! Come to think of it, I don't even know if it's a two or four stroke? Something now tells me two.

Just came accross this picture that was the most strange (now solved) 148977518.jpg

I think you should build a motorcycle with it. :)

you think if you ever need parts, you can get them from Shandong??.. I don't think so.. that engine was made for Chinese use..

That is the million dollar question. But, on one hand, it might be easier to get parts for this 04 engine from China than to get parts for a six month old Textron Empire machine. Just to say, how quickly things (in the modern world) change, and that may not be the case for this beast.

I am guessing the Kubota NC-131 was not offered in the US? I only find Chinese references. I bet they would be a beast of a walk behind.

I find all kinds of parts on Ali Express. Shipping may be a few weeks but the price is right.

the idea of a walk behind tractor seems insane, one trip, and your mincemeat with many attachments!..

11.8 HP probably round it to 12HP..??

A very common style engine through out Asia many manufactures making clones I think Yammar made the original in a range of horsepowers apart from the walking tractors and long-tail boats most stationary engines on pumps concrete mixers use them they seem to last forever

Got one almost like it (little larger)on a generator I built coupled to a 10KW generator head belt drive. Mine is good for about 8Kw electrical load sustained. That one would be OK for probably 6KW of electrical load once you factor in losses. Yes you can get parts for them. That one does not appear to be fitted with a starter, so hand crank(mine is electric or hand). You can see the starter shaft in the left hand pic in the square panel on the side of the gearcase.

Noisy! These sound like a drum full of hammers rolling down a hill:) but the make good power and are reasonably reliable. Water cooled via thermosiphon to a cube radiator on top and a belt driven fan which also has a basic alternator to power the headlight. Yes, on a walking tractor, they are chinas modern answer to the horse for rural work and transportation with a surry attached.
