Yikes!
Looks like a tow bar being used. JonFrom the 'net -View attachment 704854

I don't see a problem with it either as long as the tow bar is rated for the weight. That really doesn’t look that sketchy. If everything was secured decently the tandem truck should be capable of the load it’s moving.
Five. There's a car in there too!Just being efficient, why make three trips when one will do?
I would never do this, I have seen dogs get out of harnesses when being pulled from the front. Which is how the dog would be pulled if it went off the side.

My brother's dog won't get in the back. He wants to ride in comfort too.
That's not over size or over weight for a HiLux. Whistling Diesel (YouTube content creator) proved that the HiLux can only die after he drops it 10K feet from a helicopter. He actually couldn't kill that truck.Taiwan straw hauling, overwidth, overweight. With a HiLux (compact truck)

A legislator saw a dog do just that, and introduced a law outlawing it. They are supposed to be tied in such a manner that it can't jump over the side. Mine rides about 4 miles back from the lake and I don't tie him, but since his injuries he can't jump out. Even before then he wouldn't... I drive the road in front of my property at about 10 mph with the tailgate down and he won't get out until I say that it's OK.I would never do this, I have seen dogs get out of harnesses when being pulled from the front.
