Hope he doesn't pull into garage.
YES! Inquiring minds would like to know.Similar but not as heavy duty. I have a piece of commercial fish net, the kind where they winch in a ton of fish, cut down from a torn net to fit over my 4x8 trailer. Carabiner clips secure the corners to my tiedowns. Then a couple of ropes across that. Nothing can fly out.
Can anyone suggest a source for a scrap piece of heavy commercial fishnet? I could use a slightly larger one and can't find a source.
Amazing! I would have never thought of that!No red flags needed

Shoot, that's basically me going to a haying job but it would be a ranger not a car in the top.
Run a strap from the safety chain attachment point on the trailer hitch around the side of the pile, over the top and back down to the other safety chain attachment point, like the red line here:True, but a low load can be wrapped. Just need enough strap to do so. The Home Depot Heros always piss me off leaving the parking lot with nothing holding their purchases.
That pipe is a good spear into someone's back window? JonSaw a plumber picking up a bunch of pvc pipe on the interstate, when he had to brake hard and it slid off the rack.
One more legitimate question: why do some people use X strapping?

You have better leverage to prevent sideways movement, because the angle is greater. One more legitimate question: why do some people use X strapping?

Crossed only to allow the proper quantity of tiedowns per load.View attachment 773637
Looks crossed here to me?
Yeah, and they have more than enough to keep it still.View attachment 773637

You still would have very little holding the boards on the top in the center.Run a strap from the safety chain attachment point on the trailer hitch around the side of the pile, over the top and back down to the other safety chain attachment point, like the red line here:

That will pull the pile together, pull it forward and hold it down better than a strap over the top would.

It's a good question, and the physics in my engineer brain suggest this is a bad idea. Picture hitting a bump that induces a counter-clockwise lean/roll in the vehicle - you've just undone the straps. Granted, they would have to be loose enough to allow some movement. But there's just no good reason to do this. I would use the stake pockets on the outside of the trailer instead, and not cross them. One more legitimate question: why do some people use X strapping?

This is why I stack my board in a semi-pyramid shape - it gives your strap some "purchase" on all columns of boards. You still would have very little holding the boards on the top in the center.
Next time you do that pull the top center board out to prove it to yourself. It will come out as easily as if there was no strap.
