No... but it is at risk of becoming obsolete and relegated to a collector's item.

Not necessarily. I went and read the small print in the Lowes link. You take the lid off of a regular pail and snap on the adapter. Then you screw the lid onto the pail. $7.88 USD if I remember correctly.

In fairness, I don't think they are common. I used to buy 5gal containers of aquarium salt for my reef tank. The screw top lids are very nice compared to having to tear them off after cutting all the notches. Once you tear the seal ring off they are far easier to re-open.

I was thinking that is the only 5 gallon bucket that I know of that has a screw lid is the sea salt for my salt water tank.

Ah... would you believe, the old adapter trick!

I see this over and over. A compound miter saw has the degrees written on it from 0-90.
However that is NOT the way most people are thinking when they measure or figure out an angle to cut. It is in relation to the fence behind the board.

You get away with 45 and 90 degree cuts because they are the same on both sides of the cut.
But any thing else gets cut wrong.

Example
I need to join two trim boards to make a total of a 62 degree angle. I bisect the angle to get 1/2 which is 31 degrees.
I turn the miter saw to 31 degrees and cut both pieces. But the cuts are horribly wrong!
We’ve actually cut two angles at 90-31 degrees = 59. Plus the other 59 = 118 total for the joint.

That’s why your 22.5 degree cuts to make a 45 turn out wrong.

How to make it easier.
Take a sharpie and write the angles by 10s on the miter saw.
0=90, 10=80,20=70, and so on.

Measure your corner angle, divide by 2 and set your saw to your new angles written in sharpie. Make the cuts.

And now you know!

Never seen or even heard of a screw top for a 5 gal pail. When I need to keep paint or drywall compound or whatever in a 5 gal bucket I stretch a plastic trash bag over it before whacking on the lid. Makes a tight seal.

A bit messier I suppose but I lay Saran Wrap right down on the surface of the mud or paint. Zero air on surface so it doesn't skin over.

I like that idea & I'm no stranger to 'managing containers' when I join or host a painting or drywall gathering. I pour, wipe, & clean all when painting, and make sure mud is crumb-free from top to bottom of a bucket when 'mudding'*. There are tasks that few will fight you over. (Minimizing waste is a 'talent' of mine. ;))

*Air-space grows & mud 'settles' between filling your box. I might mist the surface with distilled water & work it into the top inch or two over long hours or days on a big job.

I displace the air with an inert gas. CO2 or C25 is always handy. . Remove tension on the drive rollers of your mig and pump it in/ seal it up.

Could be used for part bottles of wine also but this tip is of no value to dragoneggs.
