I too have been debating the supersteer question, but after test driving a regular turn TC40DA yesterday I realized it turns pretty tight as it is, so I decided to drop that option and with the 1,000 dollars in savings get the soft cab and heater for $1300 which I'll install myself. They didn't have any supersteers on the lot, but I'm also wondering if your plan is to pull a mower, wouldn't the tight turn jack knife the mower? Just a thought.

What exactly is a dealer settlement allowance and how does it work?

Its a discount taken off the invoice when the tractor is settled to New Holland. It is basically a rebate that everyone talks about on here when they are being used, at this point they have been cancelled on all the class 3 tractors except the older class 3's

I have a TC40D w/ 16la loader - no supersteer. I am very pleased with its all-around performance and am glad I didn't pay extra for either the increased 5 HP or the SS. Take the savings and buy the CEO/CFO a new pair of overalls and rubber boots so she can ride in style.

You may want to also consider that SensiTrak will sense any slippage to your wheels and automatically deploy 4WD so smooth you won't know it's happening. Yes you can still manually lock the wheels in 4WD if you want to do so but why bother if it is administered only as needed? This feature is a part of SuperSteer so as I see it you give up 2 options if you pass on SuperSteer option.

James, I think with the finish mower and all your other listed options, your prices are just fine. I'd just buy from the dealer I liked best. Maybe a trip to the shops for a talk with the service managers would help to make that final decision.

I don't have Supersteer, but I sure would not "steer" you away from it. Lots of folks have it and I don't think I've ever heard anything negative about its reliability. Do you have a lot of hills? I do believe on hillsides, supersteer is slightly less stable when you are turning downhill because your wheelbase on the downhill side of your tractor is shortened. If you think you'd want it, it's not like other options you can add on. You have to get it up-front or do without until you buy another tractor. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I don't plan on pulling any mower that might be hit because of its sharp turn into the implement behind the tractor. All my implements will be 3 point hitch.

The yard has several trees that we have planted. No real hills that I would perceive as a problem, but that is something to think about because I may use it to mow a pond levee. I could save the thousand as catfishsteved has said and by the CEO/CFO a new pair of boots and overalls. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif. Our anniversary is Saturday by the way. We have been married a short 5 years. Time just keeps on flying by. I know most are happy with it. I need to just decided and call the dealer. I've had exactly the same tractor with and without SuperSteer. They were TN75S and TN75D which are not compacts but behave the same with SuperSteer. I found the SS difficult to use with the loader and also somewhat unstable. When the axle is fully turned just image you are on an old tricycle tractor, but instead of having the wheels pointing straight ahead, they are basically rolling the way you are going over. Not a very stable arrangement. Also the low speed steering characteristics where the bucket jumps in the opposite direction from the way you are steering takes some getting used to. That said, if I was doing a lot of mowing or row work I would still have SuperSteer.
