Sorry for your loss and glad no lives were involved!! But, I agree with your "Mistake #1" ...an experienced operator would have immediately used the fell to push them back onto solid - level ground and gotten the he@@ back from the fire. Glad you had insurance, that it covered this mishap, and that you are getting a new machine. Stay safe now.

Well that sucks, glad you had the insurance. Sounds like you are upgrading a little also. Sounds like a good friend.

It's the perfect candidate for "Ran when parked."

Glad nobody got hurt, and glad you had it insured!

Another reason why no one is allowed to borrow the tractor.

Actually I am surprised the insurance would cover the tractor being used by someone else, not on your property. But what I don't understand about insurance would fill several large books.

Glad it is turning out good for you.

Dang....could have been worse. Dang...he could have ended up in the burn pit.

Good it is working out for you, both. It will be a good story to share over the coming years.

Kubota insurance covers almost everything. It may not be the cheapest option but it's usually mostly pain free. I think if it was you, not your friend, you wouldn't of gotten so close in the first place. Not so much an experienced operator thing but more a "I own it and any damage I do I'll see for the rest of the time I own it" thing. Nobody was hurt, that's the important part. A small deductible and life goes on.

This^

I lost a drain plug while brush hogging on my land and they didn't cover it because there wasn't any "damage" to cause the loss of the plug. Sounds like I should have driven it into a tree and gotten it covered????

:confused3: Well, this scared him to close not only this thread but the one over at OTT, too.

I have the photos on my computer... wonder if I can get the SSQA and the bucket (both were not damaged)...

He did not want to talk about the fire until after he got the money to replace the burnt tractor...

I thought off property coverage was the difference in manufacture’s insurance and using your homeowner’s insurance?
Does Kubota insurance only cover usage on your own property?
Non-commercial?

You are correct. KTAC insurance coverage is not limited to your property like a homeowners policy. I cannot answer commercial vs non-commercial.

I have the photos on my computer too. The insurance company has photos too and knows the full story.

I've had several people ask about the bucket and SSQA. My understanding is the tractor will be auctioned off for scrap parts but I have no idea what will happen to it. The bucket and SSQA might be usable.

KTAC insurance is intended to make sure their collateral (your tractor) is protected. Therefore it is reasonable that it covers the tractor anywhere. I believe my farm policy covers my equipment up to 200 miles from my address partly due to fewer dealerships today meaning equipment often is far from home. And my largest tractor has made yearly trips for updates to the dealer 150 miles away.

You are correct. The tractor, FEL, BH, etc. is insured, not the operator or the property where the owner lives.

Why’d you delete the post?

I won't say, but I pondered putting it back up but the forum software won't let us edit a post after a certain amount of time so the only way would be to start another thread.

A mod could do it if you asked.

You can post the photos now... anyone reading this should make it this far into the thread...

It's a good lesson to learn from someone else's mistake. Would hate to see someone else make the same mistake.
