Nothing yet. I'm in the market for a grappler and a Skid steer front side hydraulic auger similar to this one. Danuser Model 614 Hydraulic Auger Free shipping within the continental US

The b2650 has about a 9 GPM flow rate at 3000 psi song have to size the auger correctly.

I have a PTO auger and I hate it. I got that sucker stuck pretty much every time used it. Last time it took 2 hours to pull the bit out of the ground.
$500 down the drain in my opinion

I'm gonna wait till spring to go with the skid steer hydro auger.

Probably get a grappler in the next few weeks.
Check CL daily to see if any used ones show up.

Nice. What's the downfall on the auger? Too aggressive?

99.99% PTO augers cannot go in reverse. There only a few large tractors that will do it. As a result, if you happen to get the bit stuck, it's really hard to get out. On mine, every time I tried to app the boy and pull it up, it just drove deeper.

On a hydraulic auger, with one button, you can reverse the rotation. They are, however much more expensive than a PTO 3pt hitch auger. About 4x to 5x more. I don't care. My PTO auger is doing nothing for me. That was a waste of $500 or so. I also bent the bit trying to get it out.

I miss spoke I rotated the rear hose in and the front out. :) Any idea what grapple you like best? Still researching on my end.

Porchfan,

You might want to double check the B2650's hydraulic flow and pressure. Tractor data has the *combined* flow at 8.7 GPM, but that includes 3.7 for the power steering which is not available for 3rd function. Also, the system hydraulic pressure isn't 3,000 psi, more like 2,500 to 2,700 on our size tractors. I have a B3350 and would consider a hydraulic auger if I thought the tractor had enough oomph. Pretty sure it has the same hydraulic pumps as yours.

Thanks Bumperm -

Yeah - It might be a stretch using a hydraulic auger. The small ones I've seen will work down to about 5-6 GPM and "up to" 3000psi. If they have the pressure, it'll drill even if the flow is slow. To your point on the B-series tractors and hydro pump - I guess even if you are not turning the steering wheel, you lose the pressure from the main pump? I'm an Electrical Engineer, not a mechanical one. Even so, I'd like to understand how the whole hydraulic system works. Maybe I'll rent a small auger first from our local Bobcat dealer. Better than buying an expensive
auger that wont work

Here's one that might actually work. I may call these guys. It looks expensive. The yellow areas on the spreadsheet are recommended operating regions. These are close to the limit that the pump on the B2650 has...

So I haven't even run the remote yet and the friggin thing is leaking. Fresh from the dealer...I just hope it's not the valve. What's the chance the dealer will come by the property and fix it? I'd rather he do that have to drag it 20 miles to him..Here's a video of the leak... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mwSUmRKO0Rs

Porchfan,

That looks like an SAE O-ring fitting on the tractor side. Before involving the dealer, try tightening the fittings. put a wrench on the body of the 90* elbow and snug down on the larger nut (this is the O-ring side, and typically will still seal if it's just a little loose) you only have to tighten it snug, and so the fitting doesn't turn. Next with a wrench still on the elbow, tighten the quick connect where it goes into the elbow. Test again.

The above should most likely fix it, but if it still leaks, with tractor shut down and hydraulic pressure released (move any control levers involved with leaky fitting), take fitting apart. Check to make sure O-ring is not nicked. Put pipe thread dope sparingly on any NPT threads (not on SAE O-ring though, or on jic "flare type" fittings though).

Thanks bumperm. I will try it out tonight after work.

To release the pressure I also think I need to select the valve by pressing the push and pull buttons, after the tractor is off.
I suspect I can do that by turning the key to on position (not start) and clicking the buttons.

Since the lines up to the loader cross member are capped at the moment, if there is pressure on that side, I suspect it cannot push through the valve since it's controlled electronically.
If there wasn't pressure in the lines, it probably wouldn't have leaked when it was off.
