Probably burning vacation time??

What type of work did you do back then? They sure where kind to you with allowing you to take off so much time to work on your house.

I had just started in a new office as a lead software developer. Yes, they were very good to me. I had banked a lot of leave in anticipation. I also would work longer days on bad weather days to make up work time.
I still get together periodically with some of the people I worked with back then.

Went back and counted 9 days I took off to date.

I figured you where using your vacation days, or something like that. I just thought it was extremely nice of them to allow you to take them when you needed to and not so much when it was convenient for the company. Last time I worked for a company, you had to give them a months notice for a vacation day, and then wait to see if they approved it. Sick days where easier, but if you abused them, they could write you up for it. Seems like some companies are a lot worse, and some are really good.

The next 2 days in 1997, I had the flu and got nothing done. It was really hard being off work and still not be able to work on the house.

My employer is like that. My boss says "It's your vacation time." As long as I haven't made plans to work with somebody I can send him an email in the AM and tell him that I am taking the day off.

Yes, that would absolutely suck!!! Bad enough being sick. Then having to lay there thinking you should be working on the house......

19970225 Tuesday
After a 2 day flu,
After work I stood the 2nd floor back right wall section by myself, then built half of the right side wall.
Built and stood 1st floor interior wall between dining and Family room.

You mean they had Flu clear back then???

I've never had the flu, but it seems that every time I get sick, it's a full week of not being able to function or get off the sofa.
