Had you traded a 2 yr old Deere, New Holland, Kioti, Massey or any other brand, you would have seen pretty much the same initial % depreciation, maybe more. It's not a Kubota thing.

And, if anything, I always figured the Kubota brand tends to be more conservative in its model rollovers vs. some of the other brands.

But, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and I'm sorry your dealer experience wasn't a good one. If your dealer is selling both green and orange, it sounds like he leans more to the green side based on your experience with the Super UDT, and that would make me a bit wary on a trade also.

I think it's unanimous, the trade in value was "fair." You will surely find the same with most brands, and worse with some. When new tractor prices are xxx and you want to sell one that is nearly new, a lot of buyers are going to go with new for the financing and warranty. Even selling a tractor privately that is that new won't bring as much as the same tractor will down the road for the same reason. I was offered a used Kioti LB1914 for $8,000, just the tractor with 542 hours, went down to a dealer and bought a NEW CK20HST for $9985 with 0% interest 36 mos. If I were to try to trade in the CK20 right now, I would lose A LOT. You do have legitimate concerns about some other aspects as uhmgawa pointed out. A Kubota service center should provide the fluids the customer wants in his / her tractor, but the trade in price is typical. John

I knew there would be depreciation, but that much hurt the pride a little.

Being new to the tractor world, I wish I had found TBN before I bought the BX.

Hmmmmmmm, I have not noticed that. My Kubota 2410 looks very much like the Kubota 2400 etc. I don't see the big changes. The L series has remained so constant for such a long time that Kioti was able to clone it and still Kubota has not made any big changes to it. The Grande L series has recently received a face lift and some upgrades and the BX line up continues to expand--why is that a problem? Companies that only a few months ago insisted there was no such thing as a sub-compact now offer several each and conservative newbie companies that formaly turned their noses up at hydro tranies now offer "estate class" machines with hydros. Change is inevitable, like it or not, it is the only constant /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif. Good luck, you know, you could keep the BX a few years, do the trade/sell thing then. J

I'm not sure this is true. I recently swapped some e-mails with a Kubota factory rep that lead me to believe that they might be delivered to the dealer "dry" - post )</font>

This is a hard one to call, because I know that the BX22 is driven off a trailer and is ready to go. I am not certain if the BX2200 come in a crate and is dry or it is also driven off the same trailer. Considering the similarities between the two, I would be inclined to believe that they were both shipped wet and ready to go. It might be that since the BX22 comes with the hoe and loader standard, it is less expensive to ship whole than it is to crate for shipping, so my original assumption for his machine might be incorrect.

If I'm not mistaken the BX series is mostly assembled at one or two 'central' distribution facilities in the states. I believe the East Coast one is in Georgia. I think some of the larger models are often crate shipped (minus wheels/tires) to dealerships for prep and sale. I'm not sure about this but I believe I read it in a few places. Perhaps some of the dealers can shed some additional light here.

I sympathise with your resale problem but like others I don't think it should be too unexpected. What IS wrong is the new Kubota sales policy quoted above and copied from the Carver website. It basically restricts the buyer to his local dealer(s) and removes his freedom of choice unless he is willing to drive perhaps hundreds/thousands of miles to consumate the deal. I'm no expert on these kinds of things but shouldn't this sort of "sales policy" by a manufacturer be illegal under "restrictive practices" laws. I also wonder what it will do to Carver's, and others, business. I know that the lawyers have probably gone through it a million times but isn't this the same thing they just crucified Bill Gates for? I'd be interested to hear what TBN'rs think.

We are a large dealer with 5 stores and we order a lot of tractors in containers at the dealer meeting. These come in crates without wheels and tires, except for the BX's which do come with wheels and tires. We then get wheels and tires from KTC. Our shops assemble the B series, L series, some M's (MX5000 to the M9000) and the RTV's for sale. The TLB models (BX23, B21, L35 and L48) and the larger M105S, M110 and M120 come assembled also. Hope this helps.
