Hi all,
I'm installing a 30" HDPE culvert pipe. Nearby I have an existing 8" PVC runoff pipe that I'd like to tie into the 30". Should I use a T with Marmac wrap and use reducers. But without using reducers, any way I can cut a hole into the 30" pipe and stick the 8" pipe into it and use foam and Marmac to seal it up or will this not hold up in the long run?? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks

I have made those type of joints when installing field tile and teeing into a large county main line.

I cut the proper size hole into the large main and stuff my little (~6") line into it. Then cover the joint with a plastic garbage sack to seal the joint slightly, pour 1 or 2 bags of premix concrete over the joint and gingerly backfill the ditch.

There is enough moisture in the soil to harden the concrete. If you're concerned there isn't enough moisture, add some before the joint is fully covered with soil.

Not an expert, but I also thought people use concrete for that.

Not on the same scale, but I do alot of ag drainage. Corrugate pipe (tile as we call it)

Its uncommon to see mains much over 12" diameter. And often times we need to tie 4" or 6" laterals into the main. Yet the specific "tee's" to reduce to that size are $$$

So we simply use the appropriate size hole saw to cut the main. Then use a coupling sometimes to snap the smaller pipe in, or ADS actually makes what they call a "tap tee"

No need to be perfect or "sealed" cause with drainage pipe....you want water TO GET IN. And its slotted anyway.

That was a good video.
My employer would have never spent the coin for a 5, 6 and 8" hole-saw. He would buy a sack of 5 & 6" connectors.
And he refused to put in 4" tile, saying it would blowout on a long run.
