The white wire leading INTO the control module that is screwed to the shrouding should be correct.

Ok. That makes sense. What happens to the red power wire to and from from the module?

You can neatly nip and insulate it.

It's a 12 volt power lead, correct? If so I can use it for an extra headlight.

Well. the deed is done and it didn't change a thing. I did the conversion this afternoon. When I went out to test it, I mowed flat, uphill and downhill sections. Downhill was the only time it didn't bog. There was one change though. When I shut down the engine, it backfired. That has never happened before. It might be because I didn't throttle down like I almost always do. I'm starting to wonder if the electric clutch for the mower deck is drawing more amps than it should. I'll have to see if I can test for that.

I have my doubts it could be internal. My compression test on both cylinders showed 140. Any thoughts?

pull the plug wires one at a time to confirm both cylinders are firing.

No, do not pull the plug wires with it running. This can damage the capacitor in the module. Ground the terminal or hook a spare plug up one at a time and ground that. Some clutches can pull lots of current which you can detect by monitoring your battery voltage when the switch is pulled. I'm not sure though how that would be related to a power loss. I'll review your thread.

I was definitely not planning on pulling any plug wires. I've already checked the spark with a spark tester. I am going to retest the compression to make sure I didn't miss anything the last time. The tractor seems to run fine until the mower is engaged. I'm going to follow that path to see where it goes. I'm hoping I'm wrong as replacement of the clutch is expensive.
