What's the point? The reports show Toyota Brand cars & trucks fall around 8th or 9th best. Few seem to acknowledge that fact. Who want's to jump up and down over a #8 ranking, your personal experiences are so much more relevant. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I rent a lot of Buicks, and they are solid trouble free cars nowadays. #2 is very believable to me. My wife's #3 Infiniti has been to be problem free. My #4 Lincoln didn't have any warranty problems. Oh wait, these are my personal experiences, so maybe they are incorrect, since my #8 Toyota had more problems than my #11 Chevy & #16 Ford. Buick and Lincoln brands are American brands, so these results must be incorrect. Toyota's #1, yeah! /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

How's that for disagreement?

38,000 dollar land rover vs. 13,000 dollar Taco.

It wasn't even close.

Guess who wins?

Well, my guess is the Taco /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif since my Toy truck has climbed bolder fields, forded streams, plowed through snow drifts, crossed dune fields, scampered through forests, slogged through swamps, crossed deserts in 130 degree temps and NEVER once broke, never once was stopped, never once quit, never once complained, never once did anything but go where I pointed it and when I pointed it home it went there too and if the UAW don't like it-well--that is to bad.. The '87 Nissan hardbody 4x4 still runs well after all these years, but I swear it will be replaced with a 3/4 ton or larger pickup. I need a truck that can tow heavy trailers, and the V6 Nissan isn't safe doing that job.

If I have to drive on snow covered roads, I use my Pontiac Aztek with Versa-Trak all wheel drive which I find to be better than a 4x4 truck. For commuting to work I use a Honda Civic. For going through the woods, I prefer an ATV.

Yeah, I am not sure what year they started production either, it was in the early 80's I think.

"My #4 Lincoln didn't have any warranty problems. "

My wife's lincoln did not have any warranty problems either. Ford has that well figured out, It rapidly started falling apart after the warranty period was out /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif I like the long term results, not just the first 90 days or during the warrant period.
I know several people with old rusty Toyota pickups that just won't die.

Just the seat of pants feeling, I think Toyoto must surely be the toughest trucks out there. People that I know that have owned them experience unbelievable reliabiliaty. Great trucks. Now, with that said, I have never owned one and never will. My truck is a 94 Dodge Cummins that I bought new. Just turned over a hundred thousand miles. Had to take it back to the dealer 3 - 4 times for recalls but it has been very reliable. I could just never have a smaller truck because sometimes I need it to work, and I'm afraid the small trucks would never get the job done. My travel trailer weighs 10,000 empty. I have played some with my engine and it dynoed over 400 hp to the ground and 800 ft lb torque. Everyday driving is 18 mpg. I live where vehicles do not rust so I expect this truck to last another 20 years! I take exceptional care of it. Now please don't think I am bashing the small Japenese vehicles because I think they are built better. They just aren't my cup of tea.

If dollars spent are votes, where I work there are now 4 Azteks in the lot. Ranking it up there with the F150.

$16,600 for a new 2004 Pontiac Aztek right now. Not a bad deal for a larger 5 passenger vehicle that will average close to 25 mpg.

You can knock the looks, but I really like the all wheel drive which will shift power front to back and side to side for traction, up to 90%. Up here in Wisconsin we have many days that this function takes a huge amount of stress out of driving.

I also really like the split heating and cooling controls. I like it cold and can run the AC on me and the heat on the wife all at the same time. A 3K tow capacity. More cargo room than an Explorer or GC Jeep.
