Thanks all.....

Due to work (Lord, an entirely 'nother story) it'll be Saturday at the earliest, maybe, before I can spend some time on it. Planning on draining everything, flushing with gas, letting dry, refilling, and then pulling the plugs and spinning the motor if any water in the cylinders. It's also still a little too muddy and soppy to get down to it and do a whole lot until it dries a bit.

I hope it's still time enough.

As for pics of the dead fish on my back walk......already shoveled them off and away. The jet-ski is still there. But, it's a little older and looks to be in some state of disrepair and no one has shown up looking for it so I expect to have to haul it to the dump eventually to get rid of it.

Oh well, tis life........

If you can at least pull the plugs and spray some oil in there, I would advise it.
Pull off the disti cap and spray with CRC. Hit the ignition switch with the stuff also, you'll want that working when you try to spin the crank.
Those things should be done right away and you won't have to crawl in the mud to do them. Extra points if you can start the crankcase oil draining.

If the engine was under water, you will have water in the cylinders so that is the first thing to deal with. The rest can wait and can be more easily repaired/replaced.

May even help you feel better ...

I would expect that comment from someone in Blue. My Uncle Bill(W.O.) and cousin Boyd live about a mile East of Blue on old 70. Their address is now Bokchita. Boyds sister Brenda is married to Kent.

I live very close albeit on the South side of the river.

To all others, Blue is small enough that these first names probably are enough for him to know who I'm talking about.

OP,

You must live on the SouthWest side of Arlington near the lake, probably South of the lake. I moved away from Arlington 23 years ago. I lived very close to Little Road and Arkansas Lane.

I think if you'll get that Darlin' on high ground and drain and refill all fluids except coolant, and drain them thoroughly then refill and start very soon thereafter, you'll be in great shape. For the engine I would then do another change soon and drain the oil after the engine is at operating temperature, she'll never know the difference. Don't forget to dry out the ignition as soon as possible. If you have compressed air, this would be a good time to give your compressor and a blow gun some hard service.

Do it RIGHT AWAY! You don't want to put this job on the back burner.

Best of luck with it,

I'd change the oil and oil filter, run the engine for 10 minutes, and then drain and inspect the oil. If the new oil just drained looked at all milky, then exchange out the oil filter and put in new oil and repeat but for a longer period of run time. When I was finally able to drain the oil and not see any milky quality to it, would I put it back in.

Well, got into her today.

Drained crankcase and tranny (lots of water), flushed both with diesel, and refilled with oil and SAE 90. Drained gas tank, air cleaner, and bowl. Got the oil filter out and there was zero indication of water in it....looked, smelled perfectly fine. No indication of water in the cylinders. Whew.

All done with that, my next worry was the electrical components. I took the distributor apart and, after cleaning some crud out of the head ports and the coil, I hooked it up via jumper cable, fired the start, and got plenty of spark. All looked dry and clean. Reassembled it all and decided it was time to give 'er a whirl. Third attempt to start and she fired right up. Let her run for about 15 minutes, throttled up/down, worked the clutch and through the gears, spun the PTO and all seemed normal. Checked the fluids a few minutes after I shut her down and they looked and smelled normal.

I'll be changing the fluid in the shredder and running it around a little more tomorrow. All in all, $150 bucks later, and I've got my tractor back.

Great news. Glad you got her going!

"Glad to hear it , Joe. You are luckier than some I've heard about..."

Boy, do I know it. I am actually a little surprised at how well it shaped up especially after I began draining it out and started to get a sinking feeling thinking there was no way there wasn't water in the motor with so much everywhere else.

I'm still on alert for lingering after-effects. More running time tomorrow and further fluid checks will firm up the picture a bit.........
