OK....I'll try to tie the original thread to Dougsters plight. I stopped by the friendly local (but poor service) TSC store on my way home. Had to swap out my oxygen tank. Lo and behold, they're having a "FALL CLEARANCE SALE" repleat with grilled hot dogs, chips, cold drinks, and, so far as I could tell, not the very first real bargain INSIDE the store. Oh well, woofed down a couple dawgs and a diet cola, swapped oxy tank, said my farewells, and headed for the house. Dougster, I would have grabbed a couple dogs and mailed 'em to ya, but I sure wouldn't want to get you hooked on living the high life until you're able to maintain that level of gourmet fare.

Darn, I had to go with english muffin (Thomas') with peanut butter today, bread was all gone...............

You know Dougster it would be a lot cheaper excuse me more economical to grow a few tomatoes along during the summer to put on your firm bread. The plants are cheep and they grow almost anywhere you can get sun. When you slice them the juice will soften up the bread to save the teeth when you chew. Don't ask how I know about this delicacy lets just say I made it through some slimming times my self.

What's to understand about FREE? If that ain't poverty food, what is?

They had those little packets of Ketchup too. Coulda grabbed a bunch of them and made tomato soup with some hot water. Now THAT'S poverty eatin' at it's finest

Free is very cool! But don't get me going on Ketchup Soup! I am the KING of Ketchup Soup... the Julia Clild, James Beard and Jasper White of Ketchup Soup all rolled up into one!!! But that harkens back to a REALLY dark time in my life that makes my current, relatively mild state of poverty seem awfully tame by comparison. The terribly dark days of Ketchup Soup and Relish Sandwiches for lunch... day after day for more than 6 months... occured exactly 25 years ago and my generic peanut butter on "firm" bread sandwiches seem like a king's feast in comparison.

Hey, hey, hey!!! Watch those kind of "vivid" descriptions. And just wait until you are old, laid-off, dirt-poor and seeking a little cheap lunch.

But you just reminded me: Gotta hit the Goodwill store for some new shoes next week. These ones were pretty much destroyed during the "rockscape" job. Even with all new newspaper stuffed in them, the holes are just getting WAY too big.

I'm thinkin' ol' Dougster is sitting around his pool, eating caviar, wearing the latest fashions, and talking to his crews on the cellphone, all the while, yankin' our chains about this "poverty" thing.
