Tresspassing Slob Hunters, Part II

I've raised beef cattle and had no concern over how they were killed and processed. The deer we took this year were raised on the food provided by our several hundred acres and that of our neighbors. We eat venison the same way we eat beef and port and see no need to prove or justify my activities by using sticks, stones, spears, arrows etc, vs a firearm.

x2 Opinions are like butt holes, everybody has one. Trying to force an opinion on someone seldom works, it is a take it or leave it statement.

My fav is the folks that say, "theres no need to kill animals! Buy your meat from the store like everyone else!!"

Such confused people. They need to investigate where that meat came from.

:laughing::laughing::thumbsup::thumbsup::duh::duh::duh:

That's statements so true  I've run into a few folks that have said that to me over the years. It's extremely hard to keep your mouth shut when someone says that to you

Growing up, we had a hunter who was about a half mile away who fired his shotgun in the general direction of our house and the slug landed in the backyard less than 10 feet from Dad. He was less than excited as you might guess. The hunters were down in the valley and so the slug went a couple hundred feet uphill in addition to going about a half mile horizontally.

Well rats, I jinxed my self: They showed up this morning, two of them. That's the bad news.

The good news is that I did my usual ATP routine and got to watch their 140 yard Uphill Hike of Shame! By my estimate, they spent about an hour longer driving to and from than they did hunting. LOL!

And in even more good news is that was able to double-team them with one of my downhill neighbors. He went low and I went high. So they got the very distinct impression that at least two neighboring property owners are watching their "hunting".

Several years ago I had a hunter shoot a hole in my house. I had a good idea where they were parked, so I called 911 and ran down with a pair of sidecutters and clipped their valve stems. They were still there when the sheriff go there, very upset about their valve stems. I said, "So sue me, I'm certainly going to sue you." It cost the moron who fired the shot over $2k to fix my house.

TOTAL opposite here.

A friend in PA is a "Sheriff", whatever that means and drives his own car and carries his own weapon! He is one of those people that are just hoping for a violent confrontation. He does, or used to be involved with combat pistol competition and has a 50 cal belt fed mg. Probably carries it around in the trunk of his car, just in case!

sounds like Joe Don Baker aka walking tall! walking-tall-baker.jpg

Hunting is more than just a sport for some. It's about putting meat in the freezer

We have 92 acres of what many would consider a true slice of heaven. Deer, turkey, bear, and all of God's smaller creatures. I don't hunt. My lawn care guy is late 20 something with a new wife, and they literally live on what he hunts. He is the only person I allow to hunt on my property. He is allowed 3 deer per year, or 4 if he needs to fill his freezer. He took his second today, and is always extremely grateful and thankful. He is one of the hardest working men I have ever met, and super nice and polite. I believe the deer population needs to be thinned, and he needs to eat. It is a win / win for both of us.

I was told yesterday that there is a farmer in our area that has shot more than 90 deer out of his fields this year. Seems they thinned out his bean crop by quite a bit last year and he had contacted the game people about the problem. He was told he could drag the carcass to the edge of the field but that was all. Could not harvest meat or do anything else to the carcass. The guy telling the story said that he took a picture of each one for the game people and recorded size, sex, etc. about the deer. The guy telling the story works at an ag supply business.

Counted ten dead deer on the side of the road between Paducah and Mayfield Kentucky this morning. That is a distance of about twenty miles. Sister said she saw one guy standing on the side of the road beside his car looking at his bumper, which was on the ground, and a dead deer.

The deer population needs thinning badly.

Yeah when you find someone like that it is hard not to want to help them. I have a friend who served two tours in Afghanistan. He says being out in the woods hunting helps calm the mind from the PTSD. So not only being a good friend, but helping a vet, he is allowed any hunting season.

Of course it does not hurt that if he takes anything we get invited over for dinner :)

He makes a mean venison stew.
