Thank you Dave ! Really helpful ! The dealer is coming tomorrow if they can't do nothing for me Ill go the route you went through. My tire size is not on the page of tire and rims association you posted and I couldnt find it on the web. They charge 100ish $$ on their website to get the handbook.

I have attached the Tire and Rim page for radial tires. Comparing a bias ply and a radial the dimensions are very close.

Don't let the dealer start cutting the chains. They will make them a big problem as far as ride quality is concerned as the chain pattern needs to be uniform diamond shapes around the tire.

I have attached a picture of my too long chains on my tractor before they were altered by Chain Select.

The affect in ride quality on pavement was very noticeable and objectionable.

Each rear tire would be out of sync with its other rear mate setting up a sort of harmonic motion in the cab.

The chain material of the TRYGG chains is far harder than previous chains I have had. These could not be cut with 3' long bolt cutters.

Cutting a link with an angle grinder was a slow process. I still have the jacket I set on tire trying to make alterations.

maybe cut one link from each diamond to make it even?. I have never had any problem cutting even tool steel with an angle grinder, perhaps you had inferior quality cutting wheels?. and oh yea, wear a leather welding apron to prevent setting your clothes on fire!. it can also save you if the wheel breaks, and flies toward your body, nasty stuff!..

I agree with Dave about the quality / hardness of these Trygg's. I had to heat them to red hot to get my specialty chain tool to open the side link hooks. Without the super heat treatment there was no way I could get them to open up. But I had no problems cutting the links with an angle grinder and a cutting wheel.

I can see what Dave is saying about the chains being out of sync (the way his ended up) and causing an out of balance harmonic resolution to vibrate through the tractor, if running at high speed and on a hard surface. Not sure if it would be a problem at lower speeds, in snow and on a gravel driveway. Dave; under what conditions were you experiencing these issues?

I might have been lucky when I altered mine because the chains ended up with identical patterns around the tire circumference. I probably spent more time looking at how the chains were assembled and how I could alter them (and end up with a correct finished pattern) than I did actually making the alterations. For the money I spent on these chains, there was no way I wanted to even start altering them without having a lot of confidence that the end result would be satisfactory.

I would let the dealer make the changes to the chains, as long as they understood that if the end product was not satisfactory, they would take them back and give you a full refund. I doubt they would take on that risk though.

As I see it you have 3 options; 1) let the dealer make alterations at his risk, 2) if you have the equipment and confidence, make the alterations your self, or 3) return them, contact Trygg and get a different set of chains.

Finally I didnt like the way the dealer wants to cut my chains as it would result in an uneven diamond pattern like Dave pointed out. So since I have all the tools needed
and being a decent welder I'll take some times this weekend to make these chains fit. I will post some pics after I'm done.

With temperature rising this week and the next one sure don't want to get caught in an ice storm with my slippery R4's

Si I finally got times to fix shorten my chains.
I cut the extra section there:

Welded those together

Looks alot like what Hilbilly did with his chains.

Was tough to make a pretty weld around these twisted links. Whats suprised me its the ride is alot smoother at road speed (25 Km/h) barely feeling them than going at slow "working" speed where they shake the tractor, was expecting the opposite. I never tire chains before with my older tractor.

Great news but the attachments don't show up as valid.

I'm very surprised by your comment about the chains being rough riding at working speeds but not at road speeds. I haven't tried mine out yet but hope I don't experience the same thing.

Its kind of like a slow steady side to side shake, as I speed up the chains seems to fall into their sweet spot on tire and I dont even feel them except for the added little chains ringing noise. Being new to this type of chains don't know if thats just normal.

I find a small amount of vibration at low speed when the ground is froze real hard,
it goes away about 5 mph for me.
