TSC boxblade

Does anyone know who currently makes the TSC countryline boxblade? Or how much do they weigh? I'm on the harry edge for free shipping from Ken but this spring one of the attachments I plan on buying is a boxblade. Since I can't do much because of all the snow outside I figure I can do some homework now. Does anyone have any experience with the United brand vs King Kutter? Price wise the United and the Country line are about the same with the King Kutter almost $200 higher.

My driveway is not too wide in some spots, maybe 10' or so. I would like to put a crown down the center to help shed water. I'm thinking a 6' might be a good size but I want to measure outside to outside of the rear tires to make sure it'll cover. Would a 7' blade make it harder to do on the narrow parts of the drive?

I only have experience with 1 box blade, for almost 1 year

My opinion is, that I'd get the box blade just wide enough to cover your tracks.

As another guy mentioned, measure the outside track of your rear tires, and that will give you a pretty good idea what you want...

Also do a search on boxblades, I believe Bob Skurka had a real informative thread on just that subject a couple of years back, with a comparison on all the different brands, very good reading IMO !!!

The County Line boxblades from TSC are made by Tarter Gate. I have one in a 5' variety and it seemed like a good unit for the money (I also had a 20% off coupon). It is built a little hevier that the United and looked better than the reg. duty King Kutter. Weight is about 470lbs for the 5' IIRC, not sure on the 6'.

I use a 5 ft. Tarter Gate, which would be the same thing as Country Line. It's a good, heavy unit. I looked at a Buhler/Farm King up close and liked the features on the Tarter more. For instance, on the Buhler, the pins that hold the teeth in place are hard to get at, especially while wearing gloves. The Tarter unit has them out in the open where they are easier to reach. The mounts on the Tarter are very heavy also. (Yes, they copied King Kutter.) Everything about it seemed very heavy, rugged and durable. Little things like this sold the unit.

With a front mount snow blower and "soon" a Herd sand spreader for the rear I have no need for a box blade in the winter time. Actually the only reason I don't have the spreader now is because I never got around to filling the tires so I have a rear weight on the tractor.

The last few times I've been to TSC they haven't had any in stock so I assume I would have to order it. TSC said nothing about weight, that's why I was asking the brand name. From what you've found out they look to be with in a few pounds of the United and KK. Most likely anything I buy will be sight unseen.

I have no complaints with the United blade.

The United blade has one brace going straight back. I have a TSC blade and bent these braces like a pretzel pushing back some dirt that I just dropped from the box. I repaired it by installing a brace similar to the United straight back out of 2 x 2 tube steel. Now it works like a champ.

IMHO United box blade construction is stronger. If its a toss up between the two, get the United.

Good points. Perhaps the Country Line BBs are the regular duty Tarters, not the HD. I have the heavy duty Tarter and it has a big square tube going to the back, as well as very wide plates forming the side braces. It's very sturdy.

The United looks like it has a tubular brace with flattened ends at the attach points. The ends look like weak points compared to square tubing cut at the proper angles to match the surfaces.

It does look like the countryline is the standard duty blade. I really don't like the idea of those supports being bolted on.

I bought my 5' King Kutter at TSC about 4 years ago. I am very happy with it. It is listed as 415 lbs. on the King Kutter web site.

I looked at the TSC countyline box blade and then bought the United heavy duty box blade from everything attachments. The Countyline wasn't built as well and was about 60$ more, not including tax. The lower link attaching pins are supported on both sides (United BB) instead of just bolted on (TSC BB). Shortly after I bought it, one of the scarifier teeth came off. I sent an email to them and I had 2 new teeth in a couple days - free of charge. Nice folks to work with and good quality equipment. I have the 48" BB and pull it with a sub-compact.
