I too have been getting tired of continuous rate increases of cable and thinking of dumping them. Only options I've had for better (lower) monthly fees are to cancel cable and get a satellite company then switching back and forth when the promotional rates expire. I checked on TV Fool and found the majority of over the air channels are due South of me and figured I'd try this Amazon.com: Outdoor HDTV Yagi Antenna with Motor Rotor, WA268: Electronics I installed it earlier this month about 30' high and was very pleased to receive 36 channels and cannot tell the difference between cable and OTA channels. All are crystal clear. Only downfall is I'll miss all the channels I usually watch such as Velocity, History, Animal Planet, Discovery, USA, A&E, SyFy, FYI, DIY, Sci, and a few others.
The WA2608 is small, has a built in amplifier and rotor and 2 TV outlets. Downfall is there is no way of knowing where the antenna is pointed (without physically viewing the antenna) if you need rotate it. Out of the 36 channels there are a few (3) different channels that broadcast the same stations. Its rated at 32Db gain with 120 range but all the stations I get are less than 65 miles away. I do not get 18 of the channels listed by TV Fool but do get 18 other channels under different call signs not listed. Maybe TV Fool is providing an older list.

The OP lives near Liberty, Maine. There's 5 stations, three of moderate strength, one that's weak, and one that won't come in at all.

The Digital TV Transition: Reception Maps

Plug in Liberty, Maine and see for yourself. ;)

You missed the over loaded tuner that is suffering intermode from the strong FM broadcast radio stations . Doesn't matter how good your hearing is . Can't hear the person next to you if located in a noisy room

Can't see your flikr pictures and don't want a flickr account, sooo, it would be better if you posted the pics to TBN directly for more folks to see what you have.

Do you have any amplifiers on the antenna?

Sorry guys, not sure what i did wrong with flicker pictures, they show up great on my com, and it took me 6 hrs. to figure that out, I'll try to find out why. I'm not sure how to post pictures directly to TBN, have any easy directions?

Amazon.com: Outdoor HDTV Yagi Antenna with Motor Rotor, WA268: Electronics<<<<<<<<<< I was going to try that last year but didn't think it would work, I always thought bigger is better.

"Notice that the antenna that works is for channels 7 and above and all the failure antennas are designed for channels 2 and up ? A FM radio transmitter(s) is being picked up through those big long channel 2-6 elements and is overloading the tuner with noise.
Obtain a deep fringe channel 7-51 antenna WITH an amp mounted on the antenna WITH a FM trap. Low loss RGU-6 cable and a rotor will fill the channel selection up like a satellite dish for selection."

Channel 7 and above? Didn't notice that, you might have something there, might have to look into that more, if I can understand it. All I know is that the AntennaCraft HBU55 is getting 8 23<<<I really wanted these two because they show old westerns, I was hopping for 6 and 13 from Portland but not getting them, and the bigger antennas didn't get anything.
Probably should mention, I have both antennas on Channel Master pre amp 7777, house in on 40 ft of coax, garage is on 75 ft coax, both go into a (2512 Channel Plus 2-way spliter/combiner DC and IR passing)

I put up a similar one (<$50, w/rotor & amp, one outlet) for a neighbor around Christmas time. He stuck a mirror on a stump outside a window near/'neath the tower.and can see which direction it is pointed. 49 stations vs previous 8' yagi's 20-some (w/amp) at the same height, and taller trees close on several sides. No apparent FM saturation, but his distribution amp (adj gain) may include a 'trap' (filter).

Secondary digital channels (xx.1, xx.2, etc) bring ad-rich classic shows and other specialty channels. With Chromecast, Roku, Fire, etc there's plenty of free channels available online that cable doesn't offer, so who needs it? :confused3:

Never lived in a home with cable and sure don't miss the $100+ each month my friends and neighbors shell out of TV... all of my renters... market rate and Section 8 have cable... some cable and dish.

I get about 45 channels with the old plain 1960 rabbit ears... and about half are in English!!!

It does get funny because it took awhile to find the sweet spot for the antenna and someone walking across the room and affect some of the fringe stations.

I live quite near an airport and one of the landing paths is about 400 yards from our house. When even a small plane comes in to land, the TV goes pixelated for several seconds. Its not a big deal, unless its a Notre Dame football weekend and they are losing.... about half way through the 3rd quarter their rich fair weather fans all fly out one after the other in their private jets and it interrupts the end of the game over and over!!!

"don't miss the $100+ each month my friends and neighbors shell out of TV..."<<<That's why I gave up the satellite, the package I had was going up to $75.00 or so with all commercials you can stand. I had one channel with no commercials that showed old movies, the other channels had movies with commercials every free-ken 10 minutes, pay $75.00-$100.00 a month to watch commercials, redonkulous!

Right now I have around $1,100.00 in two antenna set ups, plus the $240.00 antenna that doesn't work, so I figure in 2 years, I'll start saving money. Actually I paid $600.00 last year in one antenna hook up, so I already got my $$$$ back from that.
