Two speed modification for PT 422/425

Just to emphasize Stray's last point, Loctite makes thread-LOCKERS and thread-SEALERS (plus a bunch of other stuff).

The 567 is a general purpose thread-SEALER with PTFE (teflon) in the paste. Teflon is not very soluble in much of anything, so it is suspended as fine particles. Particles in the hydraulic system is less bad than shreds of teflon tape.

Loctite makes hydraulic-specific threadsealers, too. The most widely used ones are: 542 545 and 569. These are particulate-free, so they virtually eliminate any chance of clogging of orifices, etc. I have found Fastenal {HERE} to be a good source for the less mainstream Loctite products, as well as a wide range of other shop goodies /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif They sell on-line, but they also have a lot of stores nationwide.

Stray,

Any progress on this mod so far? We haven't heard anything more in a while, and some of us are quite interested in this one...

Sorry Guys I dropped out on this one after exploring how many hoses and valves it would take to be able to switch the modifications back and forth. All my land is mostly flat anyway. A block with the valves and ports built in would do the same but this was going to be a task as well.
I do have the block and hoses that would change it permanently to the low speed. If any one is interested in doing this and reporting to tractorbynet I would donate.

Bump...

Stray, is this offer still "available" --

I'm getting ready to modify my 425, at least to the point of your "test mode" (without solenoids). Are you still willing to donate what you've done to this point? If not donate, are you interested in selling those parts?

I think I'd be quite satisfied with the permanent high-torque/low-speed mode...

Sure my offer still stands. I have been building a house and because my land is relatively flat I really don't think I ever modify mine.
