Phil, I work in the auto business and we get that question sometimes from customers. The answer is easy, yes you can do it yourself. You have to buy the correct fluids etc., keep receipts to prove you bought them, keep your own checklist of what you did, etc. However, if a later problem develops that has been directly caused by something you did wrong, then that problem, even if it is normally a "warrantable" part or repair, would not be covered.
