Hey everyone.

For Xmas my BIL has requested a quality welding jacket. Something lightweight. He sweats like a pig. Oh, he is also as big as a house (xxxl). Any recommendations? I just ruin my clothes and upset my wife.

Oh, he owns a Miller so a nice red Lincoln will not fly (and this is not to start a fight).

I am like you. I just go ahead and weld and have never had a welding jacket. My wife has been known to fuss at me for not putting on my helmet so I guess I am not the one to ask.

A BIL, depending on whether you like him or not, is either a Bum In Law or a Brother In Law :D

I usually end up wearing 1 of my insulated Flannel shirts I have in the winter time . A blue one I have has been banned to the shop by better half ever since it caught on fire and smoldered a 6" square area on the lower left side :confused3:

Never wore one myself but Amazon has some as does this place :

I use a black Miller brand welding jacket. It is lightweight cloth and snaps up in front. Mine is also "xxxl", and it was inexpensive. IIRC, I bought it off ebay earlier this year.

Get him one a Tillman Green jacket (no, not the golf one):D Cheap and effective (for all but the heaviest slag, where leather is the best), plus they make a fine work shirt for the shop (minus the smell). Sizes up to 4xl 6230 | John Tillman Co.

Miller has come out with some real nice jackets this year. They have great lightweight fabric ones and also a fabric body with leather sleeves. I have both and both are great. I'm not a fan of full leather - when I am getting into something hot or really out of position I like the leather sleeves. Other than that it's just the plain fabric.

I have a $24 Miller and a better quality image-3065008774.jpg Dickie (now 15 years old) which cost quite a bit more. Both lightweight. Terry

I use this Tillman jacket

Tillman Blue FR Cotton Torso/Leather Sleeved Welding Jacket #9240 | Welding Jacket | Work Jacket | Safety Apparel | Welders Supply Company Beloit-Big Bend-Burlington Wisconsin and Rockford, Illinois

Comfortable and does the job protecting my vulnerable parts.

Good luck
