Enjoy the photos without having to read the text. Sort of like Playboy in reverse.

Playboy has articles? I always knew it had pics of underaged and underfed girls. Yeah, Shel Silverstein did write more than kids books.

A great comic book when Buck Brown and Gahan Wilson were best regulars. I believe that's been a while. (in decades)

No pic is ever safe, or yours for sure if it's only in one place. (got ransomware?)

I learned more about welding on WW in 3 years than 55 years welding on the farm.

I don稚 know anything about the political thread. Was pretty certain I wouldn稚 like it.

Ouch. First time in 20 years my intentional 'Waldo, lost in the crowd' screen name that I chose in order to be anonymous here, and also on WW, has bit me. (That was a decision after a spammer named me as 'reply-to' in a massive flood of spam. I got 10,000 'recipient unknown here' plus a few po'd replies, all quoting what 'I' had sent them. Never again!!!)

The only hits I recognized on Google in hundreds of photos was the photo of bedframe welds I posted here recently, and a discussion when WW went down last time back when they were owned by Penton.

I have the originals of photos I've posted here and on WW but no list of what went where, or as noted, the context.

I copy, crop, and downsize, my images that I post and throw them in a folder on my desktop for possible reuse. Saves on hunting and processing again.

Similar, I append 'r' (indicating revised, cropped, downsized) and a description, to what the camera named the photo, then file it in the thousand-pic folder it came from. Those are easy to search for, and the long filenames somewhat document what's in a folder.

If the new owner isn't in the business of running forums, we could buy it from them and run it. I can reach out to Endeavor and see what they say.

Muhammad, as far as it goes, this is a good idea. I know penton offered it to Everlast at one time. Price seemed a little steep since income was dropping on it rapidly. It was poorly run though. A lot of good and valuable information, but it is also a place for insecure bullies to set up their soapboxes...which included some moderators. Little policing of the forum policies, and when they were, they were selectively and inconsistently applied.

Yep it's back up but Tapatalk still won't open it. I can only access it through a web browser. Suggestions anyone?

On that recovered HVAC site, someone posted that Tapatalk was not yet available there.

I don't know if WW has the same new owner or site administrator, but the HVAC guys said various features are reappearing gradually. For example, links to other locations within the site don't work because the re-start now runs on the latest version of VB - which changed some system folder names back to VB default.

I expect WW will be a little fractured for a while. I looked around briefly and found 1) my Subscribed Threads list shows in alpha order and the link to set it to latest-first doesn't work. and 2) I can't find a My Photos list.

Then WW went down again, back to that blue Maintenance page.

Yeah there are a few there, but you find them everywhere. I mostly just ignored those types...or shook my head.:confused3:

That is true of a lot of people, but one day, at some time, you'll say or do something, harmlessly, and they come out against you.

I visited a few times but soon became aware that it was all about promoting top brands to pros with little for the amateurs.
Never found any info on what I searched for.

Kind of 'chevy better than ford' .
Heck, basics would have been very welcome.

As a DIY type guy I made my own first welder and at that a few more that all worked as I hoped.
I spent valuable time searching for info on import type wire feed machine for tips/hints but to no avail.

Revamped with 'how to's' and DIY's would for sure create more followings.

One last DIY project for me was to convert a HD scrapped out battery charger into a handy stick welder. (OK, limited power but great to stick many projects together)

To recap: IMHO it was all aimed at the pro welder and not the DIY amateur.

EX: Helmets, you don't need to pay $XXX while the protection from a $xx is just as good. (for that matter I firmly believe they all use the same 'guts' with embellishments.)

Sure, TIG MIG are all the latest rage but for most a simple stick machine is all we want, and why not a DIY while U are at it. No magic there. Stick machines are no more than a HD transformer with specific voltages. Shucks I have welded with a simple Hammond 24 volt HD transformer. (limited rods mind U)

The 'Ignore' feature can make a thread readable that is cluttered with exchanging insults and name-calling. Some people 'never' post to a topic they just spend their life trolling. Put them on Ignore. You won't miss anything.

I know the ignore feature but have never used it. I just use my own internal ignore feature to skip past those types so far...

I do also think WW is less hostile these past couple years or so than it used to be. There are still a few goons that hang around, but nothing like it used to be.

Interesting. As a DIY amateur simply repairing/maintaining old thrashed farm equipment and using three welders that cost me under $100 (used) for all three I stay out of the brand-name forums. I look down the Today's Posts list until I find a 'what am I doing wrong' post from a beginner. I've seen a lot of excellent general-purpose advice in response to those.

My best find of all was the thread where the prior owner of my mig welder described what he was doing, as he researched then put on every imaginable upgrade. Then he went and bought a couple thousand $ welder and sold this one for near nothing. A true DIY hobbyist/mad scientist/inventor. I don't think he ever welded anything with this or his new one.

Give it another try. I think you'll find something worth reading.

It can be transformed, and into what this site is like. Just going to have to purge the bridge trolls who think the new guys should "pay their dues" before asking questions. And to get rid of the objectifying attitude toward women and veiled racism.
