Absolutely the fall is my favorite time of the year. Mostly because a northwest wind will provide one of natures great spectacles, the southern raptor migration. Though, I no longer live in the shadow of one of the best sites for viewing.
Anyway, I just today took care of my least favorite fall job. Blowing the nuts off of my pastures that fall in a couple of areas. Our neighbor has a preserved woodlot maybe a 1/4 mile square of so that borders one of our boundary lines. Great overall but we pay dearly in the fall for that. Our own trees wrap around so altogether, maybe 3/4 of out place has trees around it.
The issue is the leaves fall on our pastures and stifle the grass so I blow them off. By the end of the season, I will have gone through at least seven gallons of gas with my BR600.
The nuts though are the worst part. They just hang up on every blade of grass and take forever to move.
Other than that, the fresh air, the fall colors, hunting season, lots of activities. Make the best of it.
